I mean, even in earlier seasons, Candice and Nina got some nice styles, it was just that they were ordinary clothes because they were ordinary teens and I respected that, I essentially had Elena’s seasons 1-3 and Caroline’s season 2 wardrobe when I was 16.
and then you had Bonnie
Like they purposefully covered her up and made her frumpy.
What I found was that they had her in clothes that looked like hand-me-downs from Caroline and Elena which is why it was always ill-fitted and that the clothes they had her matched a mommy blog from 2009, the year TVD aired.
i think you hit the nail right on the head with the jeremy/ enzo equivalence. i’m sure some KCers also enjoy Kennett as a ship in its own right but by and large the impetus behind kennett as an attaché ship to KC feels driven by a desire to elevate caroline to the same desired status as elena…and being elena comes with your very own black handmaiden who exists to affirm your choices and make you shine by comparison. bonnie getting with elijah would undercut KC and caroline because elijah is a much bigger presence in klaus’ life than kol; in fact we could argue elijah is THE biggest presence in klaus’ life, which means anyone elijah falls in love with would also be a big presence in klaus’ life; considering how it’s canon that they’ve fought over the same girl before, and considering that elijah has had zero interactions or interest in caroline and that daniel gillies has made his disdain for KC abundantly clear over the years, there’s a lot of reasons they’d prefer kennett over bonlijah. additionally, a lot of people whose main ships involve or elena or caroline, no matter how well meaning, have an out-of-sight-out-of-mind approach to bonnie; bonnie had almost no scenes with elijah but a few striking ones with kol, so it’s easier for people who don’t expend a lot of creative energy on bonnie to default to that. also, bonnie getting with kol serves the additional purpose of buffering caroline getting with klaus as far as elena’s concerned, since it’s safe to assume elena would never endorse a KC romance. and finally, kennett helps them leverage bonnie’s overall significance to the mikaelsons and the supernatural universe as an opening for a caroline-centric story, hence all the campaigning when TO premiered for caroline accompanying bonnie to nola.
again, i’m sure there’s KCers who genuinely enjoy kennett, not to mention kennett has a significant following among bonnie fans. but as far as the large scale demand for kennett alongside KC…it’s a pretty transparent desire to have caroline supplant elena as the new mistress. and mistresses need maids.
*klonnie had a great power balance. Klaus is powerful, so is Bonnie. however what would have made klonnie great was the personal growth it would have enable for the characters. after the season when he was introduce, Klaus became a caricature of himself. The redundant character with a boring story line where he runs after power with no real motive, but if he was pair with Bonnie then we could have seen more of him.
He could have been more seductive because Bonnie is a challenge. would he have tried to be better we hope not, we wanted him to be a corruptible force, a being of a thousand years drawing horse and offering gift like ball dress to a teenager, sad and tragic when he could have offered knowledge and power. he could have mentored, protected her and still he would have submitted to power greater than is own. after all there are no doubt about it, Bonnie Bennett would have been the greatest supernatural being. his equal, his weapon, and the woman he would have shield with his life.
Now Klonnie would have empowered Bonnie, she would be unleashed but multi dimensional. imagine fighting against temptation, witnessing the falling of a saint is so gratifying, but she wouldn’t have really fallen because she would rose powerful , gain some selfishness and she would be respected. Klaus could understand her, because after all they were so similar, unique in their making and the greatest being the supernatural world could offer. her equal, Bonnie never really reach full potential because she was never challenged by the mediocrity around her, but we Klaus she would have to be his equal, she would have remove all witches name of history because once people asked about a witch then only Bonnie would have been the right answer.
Bamon is beneficial to both characters. bamon with Damon season 1 would have been great. it is so fascinating to see polar opposite collide, it is a battle of will. he would try to corrupter her and she might try to reform him, but at the end they will both be altered for the greatest.in addition, Bonnie is not stupid enough to attempt being the driving conscious of a man as old as Damon. she would have told him to get over his emotions and he would have thanked her. he knew that she would drove a blade in his heart if he tried his antics on her. if you have seen black panther then think about the scene between okoye and wkabi.
Bonkai. carefully going to think about the subject. that is an advanced level of Stockholm syndrome. however if the time after Damon’s departure could have been written by someone with a minimum of psychology understanding, then we could have watched great manipulator in action and people trapped in a complicate relation of dependency. once they stepped out of the prison world together such relationship could evolve and morphed in a very balanced relationship because they had already been forced to work around each other need.
stefonnie; could have been best friend turned lover. they have similar flaws and a great need to be martyrs. nothing is more repulsive than your flaws magnified on someone else, so it might have pushed them to actually question their action. so Bonnie might have learned to be more selfish because she was tired of her boyfriend dying for his brother or Stefan would have been tired of doing the same. they would have talked about it and prioritized each other.
Bonlijah: remove glasses and try to think. the three of us can’t really say much but Elijah would have treated Bonnie like the queen she was.
Kennett and Monnie. no comment. Julie flopped too much with Kol and Matt core personality. we don’t know their cardinal traits. i guess she just wanted attractive men around to lust on. with these characters, we have to heavily relay on fan fiction to find their worth around Bonnie.
