And this is why Bonnie gets horrible treatment. Because you guys message the producers and leave rude comments and then you expect them to be NICE to Bonnie or give her what you want?
I’m sorry, I don’t know if anyone told you about having respect but… you really don’t. And to think Bonnie will be treated better because of this? Are you kidding me?
Yeah, people of the Bonnie fandom shouldn’t be surprised why Bonnie is treated like shit because it’s as if you guys ask for it by tweeting such rude things to people who could make her life better or worse at the drop of a dime.
I don’t necessarily condone sending the writers hate but to say that Bonnie fans are explicitly responsible for her poor treatment is minimilizing a larger issue. The writers don’t give a damn about BB whether people are nice or not. Bonnie fans have long been reaching out in creative yet respectful ways but if anything the treatment of Bonnie has declined.
On the other hand, you have DE shippers who’ve gone as far as sending the writers death threats yet you see the fanservice they’re receiving. The writers have a bias against Bonnie that isn’t going away regardless of how they’re approached.
I think I ship Stefan/Caroline for the same reasons I ship Stefan/Katherine. Both Katherine and Caroline have a maturity about them (which I know sounds weird in reference to Caroline but here me out) that elena lacks. Elena often comes off as naive and much to vulnerable to influences to truly understand what she needs out of a relationship and more importantly, what she needs to bring to one. She is not nearly the interesting person she believes she is, and unfortunately that kind of thing comes only with years, experience, and life. Stefan needs a woman who can talk to him, who can be her own force in the relationship rather than simply a factor of his force, he needs a woman who can understand who he is and appreciate him for how good he is, but also recognize and not falter from his many flaws.
Both Katherine and Caroline seem to have a groundedness about them that comes from being in relationships that have failed, from being in love, heart broken and going through many of the experiences Elena has yet to really face. They’ve dealth with being the center of someone’s universe, and also loving someone more than that person loved them, and because of that not only are they interesting women, but they make choices based on factors they both understand are important in a successful relationship.
Elena is a child in many ways (look at her reaction to Damon’s death) and not nearly the woman Stefan needs right now. Maybe in time she will be that woman for someone, but for now I am fully on board with Stefan/Caroline (or more preferably Stefan/Katherine) for reasons stated about.
Am I the only one who shipped Bonnie & Elena? I’m a hardcore Bonkai shipper now but did ship the ladies for a few seconds in the 1st season until I started to see them as sisters. I think I shipped Bonnie with almost everyone. Do you think Kai would be jealous or excited if Bonnie and Elena ever hooked up? 😂

I can’t separate this ship from the racist undertones of canon. I can really only imagine him torturing Elena for how he treated Bonnie and nothing to do with being jealous.
When I mentioned Kai, I was thinking about Bonnie and Elena hooking in the first season before the supernatural stuff but I understand what you’re saying. In my opinion, Bonnie and Elena had a better friendship in the begining especially before Caroline was shoved between them. Not trying to hate on Caroline because I like her but I feel like her friendship with Elena was favored over Bonnie’s friendship later on in the series and that pissed me off. I only started to understand how badly Bonnie was treated until I rewatched some episodes but I haven’t seen the first couple of seasons in years so I don’t remember much.
You see the thing is we don’t really see Bonnie and Elena’s friendship, at least from a reciprocal point. In the first season it’s Bonnie that says they’re like sisters, it’s Bonnie who comes to cheer her up. The most you get from Elena is after Damon nearly kills Bonnie they talk, but Elena spends more time talking about her relationship status with Stefan than any concern over Bonnie.
Caroline is set up to be the friend they endured but when you look at their actions it doesn’t quite capture that dynamic. Yes Caroline was more shallow, and self-involved, in Bonnie’s word “you never listen” but in terms of more friend gestures again it’s Bonnie who does most of the work when you see her taking care of Caroline after a night of drinking.
The true testament to me is when Grams dies which one was more attentive and that was Caroline because a) she actually kept in touch with her during those episodes Bonnie was missing and b) she wasn’t about to chose her boyfriend over her. Also Caroline doesn’t ask her to do things for people who have done nothing but cause her pain, so…Elena from the jump has never been that great friend it was all Bonnie. But in the end it was still minimal efforts. In season 2 they both essentially ignore Bonnie and use her for their own selfish purposes and that continues throughout the series.
