Fr tho, it has like three of my favorite ships: Silas/Qetsiyah, Damon/Emily, and of course, Tonnie.
(Monday, August 3) ► I, teachers pet: Prologue: I forced my eyes open and mumbled under my breath, feeling heavy headed. And in that, someone’s alarming scream echoed its way throughout the entire room, which immediately snapped me to my senses. Mr. Wood was towering over me as students passed by, wasting no time they darted down the row of stairs and out that exit. “You’re eight pages behind, Miss Bennett.”He proclaimed, pointing to the book indented between my elbows. I bit the edge of my lip instantly feeling a rush of heat swarm the surface of my chest, and cheeks flare with shame. Mr. Wood leaned on Nina’s desk beside mine and crossed his arms, his expression almost showed disappointment. “Bonnie,” He began. Wait just a moment, how did he know my name? “Principal Graham told me that you’re lacking a little behind the others. Can you tell me why that is?” Perhaps it was because I was working two part time jobs, which happened to be everyday after college just so I could pay for my intuition. Therefore, the minute I would fall to sleep to the minute I woke up, my day wasn’t far short from being this repeated cycle due to the lack of sleep I’d been given. “I have a part time job to pay for my college funds.” I said slowly, looking at my hands. “And is it because of that you’re finding it tough to concentrate on your studies?” I nodded. “Yes. I’m constantly tired.” I swung my restless gaze at the tall figure who was levelling a glowing look at me. His eyes were a slate grey, almost marble-like. “I promise it wasn’t done intentionally. Sleeping in class, I mean.” “It’s completely understandable.” He jumped in. “Don’t worry, Bonnie. You’re not alone. There are more people like you than you think.” Mr. Wood stood up and placed his hand on my shoulder. “I’m sure you have another class you should be heading to, but if you ever feel like you need just that extra hand to catch up, stop by anytime.” He gave me a closed-mouth smile and made his way down stairs with his hands in his pockets.
So after watching this I need a full movie with Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Milles Teller. This was honestly genius. I love the concept of showing off best actors in something specific that shows how good they are and why they have such a title, but damn, I don’t think anyone could have predicted the amount of chemistry that came out of them because no amount of good acting can make up for great chemistry. That becomes very apparent when you watch the “full version” which is just all the kisses combined here, starting with Reese Witherspoon and Bennedict Cumberbatch, that was some fake passion, but they tried. (Kinda reminds me of Bon/Enzo, damn Kat tried but you can not force chemistry or passion).
And with such different actors that I definitely wouldn’t have predicted that chemistry! Gugu pretty much has had chemistry with everyone in what I’ve seen her in, but there is always this elegance with her that I never would have thought to pair with Miles and his ordinary white boyness (let’s face it, that’s what he’s known for in most roles). There’s a reason why they put them last in the compilation, they were the best. There was just so much there that I need there to be a movie centered around that scene or just a movie with them.
Rosario Dawson & Jenny Slate’s was very a close second to me, but didn’t have me wanting more the was Miles and Gugu did. They had a kiss that was pure joy and for me joy like that is most entertaining as a moment, something life can’t come barging in ruining—that’s why I didn’t want more from them. Others left me a little underwhelmed, some were meant to be comedic and as such the chemistry not really supposed to be there. I got a little excited when I saw Chadwick Boseman & Kristen Stewert because I thought that was also an odd pairing that might surprise me like the Miles & Gugu kiss did, but it didn’t. It felt a lot like Kristen Stewert being Kristen Stewert (and I mean Kristen Stewert not Bella).
Anyways I just wanted to post this because everytime I watch this video I can contain my excitement and sadness that here isn’t more of this, it’s just this one clip, this is the full version. I really want more of them because they’re beautiful and perfect, and perfect together.
And this is why Bonnie gets horrible treatment. Because you guys message the producers and leave rude comments and then you expect them to be NICE to Bonnie or give her what you want?

Are you that dense to think Bonnie fans are the only ones that act up (newsflash: hell no, far from that)? Or to think no other fandom has said anything similar directly to the writing team or acting cast? Uh, they’ve said worse and it’s even more visible since they’re a louder and more numerous fandom. Plec stayed catering to specific fans from day 1 and simultaneously treated others as extra props before there was any “fandoms” yet you want to use a critical comment from a Bonnie fan as proof why Bonnie deserved shit? Bonnie has been treated like lesser since the very start and it only got worse and there was nothing her fans could have done to warrant that since Plec personally has issues with her and the actress. Not the other way around. You really think, especially in the earlier days when Bonnie fans just @ Plec and the other writers just to ask about Bonnie, that is justified to undermine and sideline the character all these years?
Girl, be quiet. There was nothing for fans to start since this has been going on ever since. There’s no proof or reason for Bonnie to be treated the way she was besides the racism, sexism, etc. that permeates every part of the show. There was no reason for Bonnie fans to continue to suck up to folks who can’t even fathom why she should be there in the first place. Recognize the fact you think that Bonnie’s and/or Kat’s humanity needs to be justified before they can be fully realized like the other characters and cast on the show. Why should the POC convince you of their worth yet this is implied with the white ones?
Don’t say stupid and reckless things like that. We ain’t one to mess with.

I’m still trying to figure out if she really is that clueless though. I know a part of it is just her trying to seem “down” and progressive and to help paint herself as a victim, but then it really seems like she believes all her delusions.
That type of cluelessness can’t be faked. She really does believe she’s some sort of progressive “woke” feminist
I remember reading this when Plec wrote that whole essay about feminism after the Trump election. No one was buying it then and we for damn sure ain’t buying now.
If it was just plain ignorance I’d be willing to give more leeway because ignorance can be fixed, while a lot of people willingly stay ignorant, it’s not a state that has to be perpetual, but it’s more than that with her. It’s something that’s been instilled in her to the point that she can’t see past it, she can only think of what effects her. She lacks the empathy needed for us to believe her efforts are real.
I remember that article about sexual harassment on the TVD a little while back and thinking this is unbelievable, literally. Not because I think anyone there was above it, but simply because the article was written in a way that mostly seemed to applaud Plec for firing him and the “teaching moment” that one doesn’t have to endure abuse, which are all great and well, but a) this director was never named which is further protecting him not her, and b) the article stops focusing on the victim, the person who’s voice should matter in such article. It focuses on Plec and her feminism AKA white feminism, and quite honestly what ever feminism she’s preaching is too vague for anyone to take seriously.
Plec is a fortunate white woman (because honestly how does she still have a job) who has never really faced adversity outside twitter comments so unsurprisingly her views are just as dense as her background suggests.
That article @scorpio-karma linked is incredible. Honestly, even tho I’m not a b*mon/Damon fan, I can admit that the straight up avoidance and blacklisting of b*mon and their interactions was a huge reflection of writer/audience misogynoir simply bc having the fave white male focus on the lone black girl over the white self-insert protagonist would have been a blatant acknowledgement of Bonnie’s personhood and desirability. And no one wants a black girl treated as a person to be loved and protected amirite?
That pattern was repeated with bonkai when it was clear a large part of Kai’s characterization was his fixation on Bonnie. Completely erasing that would erase a big part of what made Kai Kai, so he was killed off in an appropriately demeaning way. While talking to and being so focused on Bonnie that he didn’t notice the impending sneak attack, which I would argue (bc I’m a deluded BK shipper) is him being narratively punished for his crush.
The pattern was repeated when she only found love with Enzo in s7/8 AFTER Enzo was done pining after Caroline and Lily freaking Salvatore. And while I adore Bonnie, her characterization has always been very spotty and Enzo never had much character to begin with, but -while B*nenzo had it’s cute moments – the ship literally made both characters seem OOC bc the ship was just emulating DE until DE could come back.
Denying Klonnie and Kennett added to the pattern of dehumanizing Bonnie. Having her take back Jeremy after he cheated, apparently losing her virginity to him after he cheated, not resolving her resentment/his feelings for Anna after he cheated once more dehumanized Bonnie bc it makes her seem like she doesn’t even respect herself to have some standards.
Having Bonnie prostrate and crucify herself for characters who never, not once did the same, is dehumanizing. Caroline killing the witches was sort of one instance, but there wasn’t any backlash for her choice at all. Maybe if something like the Hunter’s curse was going to happen to her for killing them and she still chose her friend, I would be more for it, but the instance gets pretty much forgotten and neither Caroline nor Bonnie show any guilt or care so…what was the sacrifice? Damon dessicating himself would have counted if and only if, Bonnie’s safety had been his only reason for it, if Bonnie herself hadn’t cried and pleaded for him not to do it, if he literally had no other choice, and if the narrative hadn’t indicated it was a useless choice anyway. Other characters never had to sacrifice for Bonnie like she sacrificed for them.
That’s just the misogynoir against Bonnie that Julie greenlit for airing. This does not include the misogynoir against other WOC (including non-black WOC, but I don’t know an alternative term, so I’m adopting misogynoir for them in this rant too) nor the blatant sexism against women over all. The only wlw couple gets fucking nuked, literally. Damon has many instances where he shows misogynist tendencies that never get punished (and this is on the writers – all the bad shit Damon did and all the guilt he felt for it would have been more palatable to me if the narrative wasn’t so insistent on coddling him from real consequences), such as raping Caroline and Andi via compulsion, being controlling towards Elena and Bonnie, etc. Klaus shows similar tendencies with Rebekah, Caroline, and Elena. This isn’t me trashing these characters/their ships, this is just me pointing out how the narrative let’s these popular white male characters get away with being complete demons towards the women around them. And when they are punished by narrative or when the behavior is called out, it was often times the female characters that got the blame for it: Damon holding a grudge against Katherine bc she didn’t feel the same towards him, Caroline having to apologize to Klaus after he bit her in order for him to save her, Matt being all mad at Bonnie bc she was unavailable to be the magic negro, Tyler being Tyler in s1 when he almost fucking rapes Vicki then slut-shames her, Jeremy basically putting the blame on Bonnie not being Anna as why he cheated on her, like I can go on. I would like to add instances of Stefan being sexist, but I recall him being treated in a way more similar to the women characters than the other male characters – the bridge with Elena is the only one I can think of, which is shaky bc of narrative and aftermath reasons, but I suppose we can count it. Hit me with receipts if you have some.
Anyway, all these examples of women being second class and narrative props to these men doesn’t really make TVD seem like a sparkling example of feminist writing. So yeah, Ms. Plec, excuse the fuck out of us if we throw a little shade and side-eye at your brand of feminism.
What kills me the most about TVD and Bamon is the cast was huge. Almost too huge and instead of just putting Bonnie and Damon together you created a whole new Damon (Enzo)!!! Why???

They created a whole new Damon because at the time Enzo was introduced (season 5) they kinda needed a whole new Damon.
When talking about ships like Delena and Benzo the topic is how much Elena and Bonnie lost to in characterization, but rarely do we talk about what the male characters lost (mainly because we don’t really care because it was nothing they couldn’t recover from).
Damon lost quite a bit of what made him an alluring character to Elena. He was dangerous, he was mysterious, he had a secret soft spot, and he was funny–all the things a cliche bad boy was, and while I won’t discuss the merit of that a lot of people loved it making him a quick fan favorite, but then Elena happens, or more he starts obsessing over her, and we probe his character more. His danger just turns into abuse, his mystery turns to random, his soft spot was just whiny man-pain and way too inconsistent to matter, and the actual change, because those previous traits were true before just not as known, is he starts joking less, his sarcasm dampers and he’s not the Damon fans fell in love with.
By season 5, while still a pretty popular character (or just still had a lot of vocal fans) it’s definitely a lot less than when he started. So enter Enzo who has pretty much every annoying trait Damon had, but now packaged in a quippy English dude. It was as though they were trying to supplement where Damon had stopped, and as easily noted by fan reaction, was not received well.
He was now their wild card, someone they could use as an antagonist when things got to easy and could equally help them when things got to hard. He was there to replace Damon and every other frenemy they’d gotten along the way since most were dead or had their own show by that point. It’s why he’s such an inconsistent character, because he’s not one, he’s pieces of characters that writers hoped would build a whole one.
It’s why when he gets with Bonnie it’s both good and bad for his character. It’s good because that’s the only amount of consistency he’s ever had. It was bad because what few traits he had that were likable were now gone, and was basically replaced with Bonniebot which, while I do like the idea of her having a LI that’s completely catered to her, it does not make for a good or even interesting romance for her. It does not even bring out Bonnie’s best which you’d think it would since she was happy, but it mostly just turned her into Elena 2.0 which, is just as well, since Enzo was Damon 2.0 and Bonenzo was written for Delena fans.
Quite honestly, was kills me about Bamon never being canon is that the show specifically stifled their plot with them not happening all the way back on season 1. Think about it. What was Damon’s goal in season 1? What were his motivations? Katherine, and for that he needed Bonnie, but he doesn’t encounter her on purpose, he’s not even the one who gets her to help him. No that happens all by accident, instead he doddles around with Caroline, and when looking back on it’s for ABSOLUTELY NO REASON.
The horrific thing he does in season 1 that mars his character for the rest of the series was completely unnecessary and added nothing to the plot or theme to the show, and it all happens because the network and later writers were specifically told not to go the Bamon route. Now there were many ways around that that didn’t involve raping Caroline and cutting Bonnie’s development, but they did not have the writing team creative enough to do that so…season 1.

mate thats fair enough you putting that an all, and i don’t want to start an arguement or anything, but did you watch the scene. have you beeen watching the show because it sure looks like to me you ain’t because the way that treat bonnie is fucking disgusting and the fact that you are saying that we send horrible messages to the writers and stuff, have you met the fucking fandom like really the DE fans and damon fans are alot fucking worse than this and they get everything on a fucking golden plate. out of everyone in the whole fandom the Bonnie fans and Bamon fans give the most damn respect to the writers, they don’t write as much shit and stuff to the writers as fucking DE and SE and Klaroline fans do, because they don’t get their own way or they made their characters or pairing look bad.
