Bonkai AU #3. Kai confesses his feelings to Bonnie, but she hasn't forgave him yet.
this just ate away at my soul a little bit, so I think that’s a sign this is definitely how this scenario is going to play out. because it will play out.
Doing a little jig while reading this article. At least Kat acknowledges the fact that Bonnie was never fully developed. She stayed on because she was happy to be given scraps almost after being essentially dead for two seasons. She says she’ll only stay for season 8 if she feels fulfilled. I guess Ms. Kat better get ready to pack those bags then. Lol. I’m proud of her for finally saying what she feels.
I hope she does leave. She has a whole lot going on right now, so why stay on a show working for those that will never fully respect or appreciate her?
jordanjanellejoy That further proves my theory that Kat was promised or thought that by the end of season 6 going into season 7, Bonnie was going to have a love interest and a storyline of her own with Kai still being alive. I think she was under that impression when she signed on for season 7, and then JP flipped the script afterwards and revealed that she was planning to kill Kai off and that Bonnie would be linked to Elena’s life. It’s no surprise that Kat wants to leave.
It really does. That is exactly what she was implying. She was promised something better and they failed to deliver it. I never knew Bonnie and Enzo were supposed to get together but they changed their mind and now he’s entering into a triangle with Caroline and Stefan next season. Julie posted on Twitter that if they decide not to go forward with a planned ship, as writers it’s their prerogative, Bonnie/Enzo were among the ships mentioned. She destroys every potential ship for Bonnie because she’s a jackass plain and simple. Kat said more than once that she wasn’t happy with how last season ended and from the Paul Wesley comments, season 7 isn’t shaping up to be any better.
This is exactly what we have been saying for months. Kat was tricked into signing on for another season. I’m angry all over again. Glad she didn’t sign on for a couple more seasons. jordanjanellejoy so you mean to tell me that they plan on having Enzo and Stephan chance Caroline around next season?……wow…..just wow…. *sarcasm* Well I for one am so glad that Caroline is FINALLY getting put first. I mean the poor dear. So they scrapped another Bonnie ship. This show needs to burn in hell.
“so you mean to tell me that they plan on having Enzo and Stephan chance Caroline around next season?……wow…..just wow…. *sarcasm* Well I for one am so glad that Caroline is FINALLY getting put first. I mean the poor dear. So they scrapped another Bonnie ship. This show needs to burn in hell.”
wasabicakes Honestly I don’t know where that rumor came from but that kind of contradicts what we have heard. I mean Bonnie and Enzo were planned to be a thing? When? Certainly not in season 6. It’s clear that they were planning Kai and Bonnie. And then a love triangle between Caroline and Stefan in season 7? I was under the impression that they were trying to do a Lily/Enzo romance. And I remember Jp saying that there will be no more love triangles in Season 7. So again, I don’t know where this bit of info is coming from.
But if it’s true then, wow just when I thought this show couldn’t get more horrible..
The Enzo/Caroline/Stefan thing was alluded to by Candice. Something concerning a “heated” scene and a couch, but then again it could be an exaggeration. I don’t think Steroline will actually be a couple when the season starts. With Bonnie and Enzo, before season 6 I read that they were a possibility, but they scrapped it. I honestly forgot about them until Julie mentioned them on Twitter, before Comic-Con. She was arguing with Klaroline fans about something and she brought it up.
“I’m actually not in about a third of this season …”
Lol…this is all so comical to me,like where do I even start? -_- JP says Kat has always been a lead yet Kat, even when given the role of Damons nanny to kiss his booboo and being taken on a guilt/drug trip, doesn’t get to be in the show 100%? I’m bloody positive Caroline, JP’s Golden girl will be in each and every episode and to think that Nina leaving will equate to Kat being prevalent in TVD7. Oh the horror.
Enzo and Bonnie were going to be a thing? Ever since Enzo got here, he’s been all up in Caroline’s ass or Stefan’s so is that JP’s mantra for Bonnie? “Feed Bonnie scraps, feed Bonnie scraps, feed Bonnie scraps”? Will there ever be a guy, to show sincere interest in Bonnie without going through her friends first? Oh yes..that was Kai…sad how that one worked out. Now it’s even more clear – Bonkai was suppose to happen. There was more consistent build up there more than Damon’s 1-6 seasons or Enzo’s non existent time of interest in her.
Lol a love triangle between Caroline, Stefan and Enzo?
JP is known for her inconsistent attempts in the love triangle department and heck, she’s going to continue it into Confailment. 📣📣Someone stop her!📣📣 But seeing as this isn’t exactly concrete proof I won’t stretch it. And I agree, Kat was definitely tricked, just like JP and co. tricked the fans into thinking/believing that Kol would come back in TO’s season finale. Now half of the fans are done with TO and I hope Kat will soon be free from JP’s undermining shackles. I’d like to see or more like read, how TVD7 fares for her and if JP will take that as a hint to bring back Kai. Lol This show really needs to burn in hell bonkai-diaries or taken up under new management.
bonkais-aurora-borealis Me and the rest of the Kol fandom invested in so much time and energy trending for Nate to come back. And all season they fan baited us only for him not to return in the finale. And they even made a tasteless joke about Kol not being resurrected.
Then there’s the Bonkai situation. This was the last straw for me. Kai was the only guy in history of this show to pursue Bonnie without wanting anything in return, or without her just being a “filler” romance. For Jeremy she was just filler cause he lost Anna. If b/amon hooked up (which they wont since they got shut down & had no build up) she would be filler romance to Damon too.
And even with Enzo it would feel fake. Cause he was smitten by Caroline, & maybe Sarah, but never Bonnie.
Bonnie shouldn’t get anyone’s scraps, or leftovers. She deserves more than to just be filler romance. With Kai she wouldn’t have been a “filler” romance for him. And she wouldn’t be hounded for magical favors all the time, because Kai is a powerful witch who can look out for Bonnie in ways her useless friends can’t.
And i have no doubt Kat is disappointed in the linking spell and with Kai being killed off. She knows that linking spell made her character hated.
Unbelievable how the season could’ve ended with Bonnie taking down the big bad & being displayed as a powerful witch, and finally getting a man (Kai) who is sincerely pursuing her.
But they went the degrading route for her and made her death the trigger to waking up the main character. Plec is insidious and spiteful.
bonkai-kingdom Oh yes! I completely agree. It’s about time for this show to be axed. They continuously failed to properly utilize Bonnie’s capabilities by subjecting her as The Messiah with countless resurrections and practically reducing her as a nun. and when we were made to believe that she won’t be taking anyone’s shit anymore, she’ll be guilt ridden and resented? -_- and what about Kai? The all powerful leader of the Gemini Coven didn’t even get to display any abilities that his title suggested and then he was instantaneously turned into a witchpire ( an existence that is as far-fetched as pigs flying) was also rendered as useless in the powerful factor. Dull writing. They actually put forward the notion of Kai – a 22 yr old in body and a 40 yr old in mentality to pretty much came off as asexual and when he finally got empathy, and took up sincere interest in Bonnie when no one else did, he got shot down. If Bonnie is capable of forgiving Damon for his dumb, pissy and childish antics and even being guilt ridden in tvd7 then she sure as heck was capable of forgiving Kai.
Such inconsistencies and Incompetence coming from “experienced” and ‘’professional” writers makes my little cousin look like a focking prodigy.
bonkai-kingdom and bonkais-aurora-borealis Perfectly said! Kai being an all-powerful coven leader was never really shown, and certainly him being a witchpire(shouldn’t that have made him even more powerful?) it wasn’t shown. He was easily killed somehow, Damon became extra powerful because he was pissed off about Elena? Dumb as fuck.
Kai’s death was degrading, and of course they chose the most degrading route for Bonnie. Her not being able to display her powers, but instead Damon having to think really hard about whether Bonnie’s life was worth being saved over his girlfriend sleeping. And the way they made Bonnie look all grateful like it was some prize that Damon didn’t leave her to die on the floor. That made me sick.
Correction though, I’m pretty sure Kai was supposed to be 22 year old in body and mentality.
bonkai-diaries Oh snap, yes indeed. Hmmm i was thinking the other day…remember when kai said the prison world was meant for him alone? Which is why he didnt age and could be constantly be revived right? A prison world that is meant for someone alone should cancel out any other inhabitants to even exist within that realm (Atleast that’s what I feel). Now when Bonnie was trying to kill herself, wouldnt she have been fine and dandy and come back to life like Kai? Existing in a timeline should alter both damon and Bonnie’s metaphysical attributes thus making them liable to the unchanging advantages like that of Kai….I refuse to believe that theory that JP presented is consistent enough to be called or written off as logic. I mean that idea is as homogeneous as the heretics. I could be overthinking it and talking utter nonsense but what are your views on it? bonkai-diariesbonkai-kingdoml0nd0ninnit
bonkais-aurora-borealis Well I had questioned this too, I mean when Bonnie gets stabbed right before Kai leaves and then she wakes up again, I had assumed that she died and is revived again, just like what happened to Kai every time he gets killed. But then in episode 6X13 Kai was trying to claim that since the prison world was built for him then he thinks he is the only one who couldn’t age nor die in it, but that he wasn’t sure that if Bonnie killed herself then she would die for good most likely. So I guess that means that Kai stabbed Bonnie in 6X08 not to kill her, but just enough to take her blood, which caused her to pass out and then wake up again.
But then later it’s more ridiculous that Jo and her father wanted to keep Kai in the 1903 prison world, considering if he dies in a prison world not originally built for him then wouldn’t he die along with Jo, his father and the rest of the gemini coven? Logic fails all around.
I was thinking about that the other day and I realized how Bonnie and Kai’s storyline weren’t important at all for JP. When Luke and Kai merged, Kai was suddenly so nice and was begging, BEGGING for Bonnie’s forgiveness because he obviously had feelings for her. However, Bonnie didn’t forgive him and left him in the prison world of 1903 after trying to kill him. And then when Kai came back, he was super mad at Bonnie and almost hated her. Why would JP make Kai turn nice for few episodes if there wasn’t any romance planned with Bonnie or with anyone else in fact! Nothing came out of this situation! It was just the most useless thing to do to Kai because nothing came out of it, beside creating this idea in the head of the fans that Bonkai could happen. Kai was such an interesting character and to make him die was so useless, why bring a character in the TV show for only one season if nothing productive comes out of it! Kai’s death is to me, the worst decision that JP could have made for TVD. **sorry if my English is bad, it’s my second language haha
I mean, they could have gone the route without turning Kai nice and then back. All it succeeded was to ultimately give the impression that the blame of Kai’s revenge was on Bonnie’s shoulders. (Of course, no one will bring up the role Damon played in this). But the idea will be that Kai was reformed, and Bonnie’s revenge pushed him back to the brink and over and everything that happened after that – Jo’s murder, Gemini genocide, Elena’s coma – is ultimately her fault.
I mean, even if you disregard the bad writing, it’s still not Bonnie’s fault for what happened. She was manipulated by Damon for his own agenda, she wasn’t operating with 80% of the facts (Kai near-dying to save her – tangible proof that he had changed, Kai being linked to his coven, etc). Other people who knew this or some of this – Damon, Jo, Alaric, Elena – were comfortable having Kai locked up. But what most people will remember is that Kai had changed, had saved Bonnie’s life, and she stabbed him and left him to die,and he came back to hurt her and punished everyone else in the process.
And you just know that Plec is going to play that story up. She’s not going to bring up Damon manipulating Bonnie or lying to her. She’ll bring up that it’s Kai’s vendetta against Bonnie and Bonnie alone (forgetting that he was also punishing Damon and Elena who equally left him in 1903 and knew better than Bonnie that he had changed).
Heads or tails, Bonnie loses.
It’s almost as if now that Nina is going with Elena, and Kat and Bonnie have a chance to step in and become the leading lady… Plec is deliberately loading the dice against Kat/Bonnie so that the audience will dislike her and actively root for her to die.
Plothole diaries is full of flaws to rage about. That PTSD story, was that not the biggest load of crap (it’s insulting to those that have it)? I was so annoyed Bonnie got over it so fast. A girl with PTSD when it comes to prison worlds (and partly Kai) would no way be willing to go back to one! With the guy she is afraid of no less.
Maybe she would be okay after she found out he saved her, but no way would she go back to another prison world after surviving the last one. She had no fear at all! she was way too chill with Damon/Elena when she was there in 1903.
So she got over her PTSD for Damon and his mommy? okay then. Why would she even care about helping get his mother out? I don’t believe that bs about helping Caroline and Stefan. Bonnie had enough magic at this point, to put those vamps in line. They don’t need mommy ripper.
I wanted Bonnie to go crazy and accuse Damon and Elena of only being willing to help when it comes to his mother, but no effort when it came to getting her out of 1994!
I was so annoyed when Bonnie didn’t even question the whole thing. Even Kai was trying to warn them. I know Bonnie didn’t know mommy was a ripper, but she is smart enough to know you don’t get put in a prison world for no reason. Kai taught her that much.
It’s all Damon’s fault, and JP ruined Bonnie’s character to make her play lap dog again. Why is she doing that? Bonnie should have left like Jeremy did. Or start being on her own, working on her expression magic. Why was the first thing she did when she got back, was help save her friends again? help Damon get his mommy out?
As a Bonnie fan, I can longer watch it. I love Kat, but i can’t watch her character be ruined.
I think the writers really went over board with the ridiculousness to bring Lily back. We’ve never heard of this woman, and it’s obvious she is just going to be another Ester, yawn – get some creativity plec. The whole thing about bringing Lily back for Stefan’s humanity was absurd anyway as well as the humanity-less plot, which served no purpose. Lily has no interest in her sons, her story line is boring and no one cares about her character. It was such a waste and just a way to screw Bonnie over again.
Lol girl you know ‘creativity’ and ‘Julie Plec’ does not go together. EXACTLY! what was that bs? Stefan had controlled his humanity switch for a long ass time. He has managed to get himself out of it (with a little help) all his vampire life. Why the hell does he need his mommy?
Then they basically had him pretend to lose his humanity to help caroline, it was such a mess. Lily took over from Kai, the one interesting character we had in a while. Can’t wait to see it bite plec in the ass. Like you said – no 1 currrr about stupid ripper mommy.
The thing is they’ve helped bring Stefan back before, ripper Lily wasn’t needed, and she didn’t even do anything, it was Damon who did lol. I can’t wait to see Plec bite the dust as well
Reblogging because, while I’m too tired to point out what I agree or disagree with, I need this discussion on my blog. The interview is definitely worth a read, btw, it’s a good Kat interview.
Bonnie Bennett has made a living using her magic as an Extractor, building a reputation of a precise, reliable and effective dream thief, with her team of slightly off centered misfits composed of
Caroline Forbes as the Forger,
Matt Donovan as the Point Man
Tyler Lockwood as the Architect
Lucy Bennett as the Chemist
When the mysterious Katherine Pierce employs her to perform her most dangerous mission yet, Bonnie is ready to send the 500 year old vampire to the gates of Hell she had previously escaped. Planting an idea is almost an impossible feat, akin to a miracle. Or a curse. Even more so when it had to be rooted into the devious mind of one Klaus Mikaelson.
Nevertheless, when Katherine dangles the ultimate prize, the return of her beloved Grams to the world of the living, Bonnie sets her team on this game changing mission, building it around the memories, that kept plaguing her, of the first and only inception she had achieved.
However, what she omits to tell to her partners is that her mind and her dreams are not only her own and when descending down into the tortuous confines of her psyche, they might find waiting for them none other than Malachai Parker, her longtime love and partner in crime that she lost to the Limbo.
And Malachai is just as she remembers. the snake in the garden, the trickster whose brilliant mind was lost to the glutonous hunger of a powerful spell. And her Kai will not let her go this time. Even if it means trapping her friends with her.
The universe has to give me this. I want this. I might actually need this. I would love to see an Inception!Bonkai movie, it would slay so hard.
There is a clear difference between
a love interest and a love story.
Here is my take on it.
A love interest is temporary. It may only last for part of a season of a
television show.
A love story is a long-term relationship. It may even be canon as part of
the larger narrative of the story and the characters.
A love interest can happen overnight or even instantly. It has no basis in
reason other than being a pleasant distraction for the character or the
audience.
A love story takes time to build as the characters develop and learn to
take their journey together.
A love interest character falls in like and/or in bed and their actions
are fleeting.
A love story character falls in love with their companion character and
their actions are deliberate.
A love interest character fights with the chosen character.
A love story character fights for their chosen character.
A love interest advances the plot.
A love story advances the character’s development.
A love interest serves an immediate purpose.
A love story serves the larger story and narrative of the character(s).
A love interest requires little effort because they are created to be
one-dimensional; or the relationship itself is one-dimensional.
A love story requires an abundance of effort and time because a character
being built is three-dimensional. The romance itself is three-dimensional.
A love interest can be created as a recurring character in a story, but
the brief romance they share with another main or supporting character isn’t
supposed to be canon. It’s supposed to fill a void in the plot of the moment. They
disappear once they have served their purpose.
A love story is something only a leading character can have because the
leading character has been written so that they, as a character, matter to the
audience.
The audience can “ship” either a
love interest or a love story, but
only the love story (supported by
the creators) will survive.
A love interest never does. Either the relationship or the character dies.
Sometimes they both perish.
A main character can have either a
love interest or a love story.
A supporting or recurring character
can only have a love interest.
On Vampire Diaries:
Elena had Stefan and Damon as love stories, and Liam as a love interest.
Caroline had Jesse as a love interest, but Matt, Tyler, and Stefan as love stories. (Klaus is a love story
too, but his character was so epic, he was “shipped off” to another show –
pardon the pun.)
Bonnie had, well, I suppose you
could say Jamie was a love interest. They did kiss once in one Episode of
Season 3, but then he vanished from the show.
Jeremy and Bonnie never fell in
love on screen. Bonnie actually had to convince herself to date him. That’s not
an actual love story, and given that Jeremy only said “I love you” to Bonnie
once – right before she was about to vanish from existence – one can’t consider
that a love story either.
The truth is, regardless of what
Julie Plec says, she has never intended for Bonnie to be anything other than a
supporting character to be used at her Executive Producer discretion. Someone
needs to die – okay, it’s Bonnie. Someone needs a spell – okay, call Bonnie.
Someone needs to be blamed for something – okay, it’s Bonnie.
Julie Plec made a point of commenting on Twitter that she thought Bonnie should have died at the end of Season 5 because she believed the character’s story had been told.
Well, I suppose if you want the only person of color to serve as the proverbial supernatural maid, cleaning up or fixing messes for everyone else. Or if you want someone to serve as the sacrificial lamb because you don’t give a damn about her character – then yeah, Plec HAS told that Bonnie story plenty of times.
Bonnie is not meant to stand out or
fall in love. She is not meant to have a career or a family. She’s not meant to
be happy. Julie Plec admitted that she didn’t see Bonnie’s character as being valuable until Season 6…you know, the season she didn’t want Bonnie to be in at all.
Now she wants Bonnie to feel both
guilty and grateful for being alive. She ties her life to Elena’s AGAIN – her death
being the only thing that can bring back Elena and Delena, even though Bonnie
has already died for that girl and her band of boys too many times already.
Sure, Plec is going to throw a “love
interest” at Bonnie this season to shut up people who consider her a racist for
treating the only black character on the show with such overt disgust and
disrespect when compared to her other female characters. The so-called romance for
Bonnie will not be canon. It will not be a love story because Plec and Dries don’t give a damn about Bonnie.
You’ll note that Plec said Bonnie’s
Season 7 love interest will come out of nowhere, but it will make sense. That is NOT a love story.
She
also stated that they might explore Bonnie’s bi-sexual storyline down the road,
if it makes sense for the character. This is basically admitting that whatever
romance Bonnie has, like always, won’t last. It won’t develop on screen. It won’t
matter because her character doesn’t matter to the executive producers.
I wonder if that is their way of
telling young women of color that are fans of the show just how much characters
that look like them are valued.
(Wow, that actually turned into a
rant pretty quickly.)
Bonnie, out of all the people on
this damn show, deserves a love story.
