Enzo

Here’s the thing, Enzo is clearly the underdog, and Ilike underdogs. When he tells Bonnie that he waited all his life for someone to care about him the way she did that should have incited something in me, at the very least pity. BUT none of his trauma or pity worthy events in his life can take away from the fact that he is completely useless which is why I don’t give a fuck about him. Most underdogs have at least one redeemable quality that makes them important to the plot, or in Bonnie’s case ALL of the qualities since she was the most important character, but I can’t think of one reason for Enzo. He was there to sit pretty and shut up.

“It’s really telling what people decide to focus on.” Right though. Like season 6 was the perfect opportunity for Kat to be the female lead. Because a) Nina had left b) Candice was pregnant c) Bonnie had been the most relevance from the books and d) Bonnie was the only one who was actively pushing the plot since season 1 yet none of those fans were trying to give Bonnie the justice she deserved the way they were when she was cast as black.

Season 7, but yeah. Here’s the thing Plec knew this which is why she kept teasing it, baiting Bonnie fans with more focus, a better love interest, pretty much everything we had been complaining about and delivered on nothing. The best she did was Enzo and absolutely no effort was put into that. They had a whole season to develop them and not only didn’t but had to have a flashback episode that essentially explained fuck-all and then wanted us to think he was the end all be all and be congratulated on this “effort” by Bonnie fandms. Of she didn’t because we see right through her everytime and it’s that Kat/Bonnie is just a box for her to check for diversity, she had no interest in telling her story in any sense.

vlvetmornings:

noah fence but the mere concept of bon.enzo annoys me like ship what you want or whatever but BE is literally the epitome of everything that was wrong with how the show treated bonnie. enzo had first been pining after lily salvatore and when she rejected him only then had bonnie suddenly become an option. i remember reading in a meta once that enzo was only ever what the writers needed him to be. he had no personality. he was the antagonist when they needed, and the love interest when they wanted. and after season six when the bamon hype got too much to bear, they stuck enzo with bonnie as a consolation prize and developed them through a series of flashbacks, clearly taking notes and beats from bamon (i.e. stuck in the same place isolated from others. bickering. having little insiders like “terrible guitar player.”) in this essay i will

One correction that makes it worse (at least to me). He doesn’t first pine over Lily, no, he first pines over Caroline. It’s what sparks that entire useless plotline he has in season 6 with Sarah Salavatore.

So not only does he have the taint of Bonnie being his second choice, but he has the taint of choosing one of the “right” girls first, and it Caroline of all people, the character they usually throw Bonnie’s potential LI’s at to thwart her ships (if they aren’t killed.)

I don’t know if you’re referring to one of my posts but I have spoke on the fact that Enzo isn’t a character, at least not a full one. He’s pieces of characters that they hoped would make on full character, and then threw at Bonnie so he could finally be a character relevant the plot (which is kinda what they did with her and Jeremy because let’s face it, after Anna dies his role in season 2 isn’t really all that significant).

Because I don’t really feel like repeating things here is where I talk about why Enzo exists and here are just some additional thoughts on the fact that Benzo was never really meant for Bonnie fans to begin with. Essentially Bonezo was Julie’s way of thinking she did a job well done.

I’m noticing a pattern…

@bonkaiqueen

Didn’t you hear? Clearly this:

is the chemistry we all should have been looking out for in season 6, not this:

And clearly we’re delusional for thinking otherwise:

After all why would we want the psychopathic Bonnie lover with Bonnie, she clearly belongs with the guy who’s never taken a second glance at her.

Retwatch

Enzo’s plot line in season 6 was the dumbest shit I have ever seen. Sorry for the stans out there, but that writing was atrocious.

I’ve said this before, but Enzo was never all that relevant to the plot outside of the Augustine storyline, after that he’s useless and season 6 proves that. The only things he had going from him as a character were his charisma, charm, and sense of humor which funnily enough go away once he becomes relevant again as Bonnie’s boyfriend. To make him relevant the writers had to get rid of what little he had going for him. Take that for what it’s worth.

Benz0 is just so awkward

So I’m in the middle of making a survey regarding Bonnie (I’ll post it here when I’m finally finished with it) and one of the questions involves her ships and I can add images/gifs to it. I don’t personally like Benz0 but I’m trying make it as unbiased as possible. So while I’m

in the middle of

trying  to find some gifs of them (and by that I mean I’m just typing in things to google image search) that becomes a harder task than I thought for a canon ship because every single one of them looks so awkward. The only ones that don’t look awkward only involve one of them in the frame (and I wanted both in the frame at once).

I mean look at this:

image
image

They both look so awkward and it’s not even because the gif is cut a little short, that is what they’re small “intimate” moments look like. What are they doing with their arms and hands and just everything? It just all looks so awkward.

image

There he looks like he’s mauling her face and not even in the sexy, urgent, I must have you now kind of way. This was supposed to look sweet.

image

That’s the only “good” one I could find and I use that lightly because it still looks awkward in the way they just press their lips together and don’t move.

image

Like I said the only good ones are when one of them is in the frame.

Conclusion: What I already knew, Benz0 sucks. :/

But on the bright side I found this weird gem of Tyler and Bonnie:

Look Closer

I knew he was like an asshole back then but I never noticed him openly checking out Bonnie which sadly makes him the only person in season one to genuinely check her out and find her desirable.

trashforbonkai:

“The idea for a Bonnie/Enzo pairing began in Episode 21 of Season 6 when Enzo visited came to visit Lily at the Salvatore Mansion, where he was met at the door by Bonnie. “Kat [Graham] and Michael [Malarkey] had such … chemistry in that really short scene,” Dries recalls. “We were like, ‘Huh … Let’s explore that relationship.’ ”

In that case Bonnie should have had a relationship with every guy on the show including Kol, Klaus, Kai and Damon

Julie Plec and having woman be co dependent on a man….

awesome-bamon:

Problem with JP and her idea’s of love and romance, is how she writes for women to be co dependent on a man and thinking that it’s the only way that she can sell these “epic” romances or show that this women are in love with their love interest or loves them a lot.

With Elena and having her take drugs to see Damon, when Damon “died” or admitting that she put Elena into a coma, because she couldn’t see Elena letting Damon go. Elena loving Damon, but being able to let him go and to leave town and live her life, seemed out of the question for JP. So she just put Elena in a coma, to wait in a box for Damon instead.

Now doing it to Bonnie with Enzo and having Bonnie act like she can’t live life or go on without Enzo to the point that she wants to die.

JP can’t have the balance of showing these women be sad in losing the men that they love or mourn losing the men that they love and showing them having a difficult time with losing the ones that they care about and at the same time showing them making an attempt to live life and go on with other parts of their life or trying to find happiness within themselves and other parts of their life.  And having enough self confidence and self worth on their own to make a strong attempt to live life.

There is no balance.  She write Elena/Bonnie to go all into depression mode without these men.  They are all about these men and nothing and no one else in their lives. These men are all that they can focus on.   And JP writes them as not being able to function properly or live life without these men.  Like their life is not worth living without these men and that’s a bad message to sell.

Because a woman’s while happiness and worth should never be put into one man, no matter how much she loves him, there should still be self worth and value in herself. Not acting like her life is worthless without a man.

Some may overlook this because all they want is their ship, no matter how the writers gives it to them. And some may find the “can’t live without him” thing romantic.  But, as a Bonnie fan, I wouldn’t want her to put all of her self value into a man, not even for Damon.

My hopes for Bamon is that she would love Damon, but still keep her self worth and self value attached.

JP doesn’t know how to write a balanced woman that can love a man, but still can have self worth in herself without him.

lydiamartine:

sorry but i can’t even like bonenzo when bonnie is willing to kill herself through lighting herself on fire for him, the ship is literally becoming del*na 2.0 in which co-dependency is becoming the norm

bonnie’s character is being annihilated for a ship, she should live for herself and for her friends, she shouldn’t die because she lost a damn man, she should grieve yes but not kill herself when grams sacrificed everything to make sure bonnie would be okay.
