Like, I get that apparently, witches in Esther’s bloodline, firstborn ones, are born with devastating power but that still don’t explain why Hope is basically magical jesus. I am tired of the white chosen one narrative, uwu blessed white child. Kai and Bonnie’s children would have multiple reasons as to why they’re powerful

I always wide-eyed people who call Estger the Original witch because a) just completely inaccurate there were witches well before her and that’s noted in the episode explaining her origins, and b) the spell that made her famous was stolen from Ayanna Bennett who was an ancestor of Qetsiyah, the originator of that spell. Pretty much everything she did was built on the backs of the Bennetts, they just don’t get the credit–they never get the credit they just always end up in the servant position while the show kept trying to pass it off as “best friend” or my personal favorite “handmaiden”.

The moment Esther is introduced, the first white witch on the show, is the moment witches started getting more agency, but only of they were white. With her introduction the number of black witches, the default up until that point, starts dwindling, and it was as though Plec was saying, “ah, witches I can finally write for” because it was only then that they stopped being servants.

So after observing this I don’t mess with white witches on the show whether it be Hope, or Wonder twins, or even Liv and Luke. I need more than them being white to explain their emense power and agency, which Kai had. I knew why he was so powerful, first dependent on the amount of power he absorbed, then due to the fact that the collective power of the Gemini coven.

And then there’s Bonnie, there’s almost a “chosen one” attribute to her, but she never gets to enjoy it, she never gets to have agency over her magic which is what eliminates her from that category, but that doesn’t stop people from complaining. Over the years I’ve seen more complaints about the Bennetts being apart of every big magical event than I have about Hope, and the wonder twins near God like level of magic which is crazy when you consider they’re all plot-hole characters to begin with. It angers people that Bonnie is supposed to be so powerful which after all she had been through I don’t understand why. There’s more explanation for her prowess as a witch than there has been for any other character, but they didn’t have issues with that.

So in short, I’m tired of the “white chosen one” narrative too especially even within these narratives the Bennett line has done more impressive things, they just are never acknowledged.

I will never be more annoyed than when someone uses “suspension of disbelief” as an explanation

I know vampires and witches, werewolves, etc. aren’t real but when the writer starts violating their own mythological rules what the fuck am I supposed to “suspend my disbelief”.

This is a dress I wore in 2011 for a NAM pageant.

For reasons not related to this dress I did not win. What I wanted to point out is this.

This is the dress Bonnie wore to Caroline’s wedding and if you noticed it’s nearly the exact same as my dress from 2011.

While I didn’t hate this dress I never really liked it. It was mostly functional. It was the only dress I could find that fit my boobs (they’re quite large) and didn’t drag on the floor (a rule from the pageant).

When I saw this dress on Bonnie I didn’t feel any different. While she is significantly more beautiful than me not even she could make this dress look anything other than functional. It’s a pretty dress but not one that wows anyone. It reminds me of her prom dress.

It’s pretty on her and functional as a prom dress but it’s very muted especially compared the other prom dresses in that episode.

It not news that they put Bonnie in muted clothes but this is season 8, her wardrobe had actually improved by this point. However something I noticed while making my survey is that her wardrobe actually got worse in season 8 and the fact that I actually own one of the dresses they put her in is proof of that.

I’ve mentioned many, many times before how this frustrates me I just thought I would add to that long list because every corner I turn I find something new in terms of how they screwed over Bonnie.

houseyousana:

uh no disrespect to hope mikaelson but no one does it better than bonnie mother’effin bennett

Full disrespect to Hope MiKaelson. She literally exists as a way to disrespect the entire Bennett line because Plec can’t “relate” to a witch if she’s black, so she created white witches so that witches could have agency while leaving the witches of color as servants. All Hope does is continue that legacy so, yes, full disrespect for a character born out of disrespect.

Let’s get one thing straight…

siredtobonkai:

Everyone knows that Bonnie Bennet was a character that continuously sacrificed her own life/happiness for the other characters on the show. What I hate is that Julie’s arguments for not wanting Bonkai are that “he is too bad” and that “she deserves better” but correct me if I’m wrong, isn’t Kai the only one that actually almost died so that Jeremy could save Bonnie?

And I get it, Bonkai is not a healthy ship but since when does Julie care about that? None of Bonnie’s relationships on the show are healthy! Every character on the show repeatedly use her and abuse her for their own gain and what does Bonnie get in return??… Nothing!

But God help us if they explore a relationship that actually allows her to be more of an equal.

Julie just doesn’t want Bonnie with anyone who is a white fave character, has little to do with it being a “healthy” ship which every bullshit excuse she’s given n the past for EVERY ship proves.

When asked about Tonnie she said she didn’t want to copy Willow/Oz from BTVS then, firs,t pairs him with Caroline, and then 4 years later pairs Tyler with Liv proving how full of shit she is because now that the witch is white she’s not worried about ripping off BTVS *eye roll*.

Klonnie, a ship both actors showed interest in and quite a few Bonnie fans–KC happens in the most random scene ever.

Kennett was already a crackship and everyone knew until Plec’s infamous “Bonnie’s too good for him” tweet that we all knew was bullshit but had it proven with Kolvina, again no qualms now that the witch is white.

Bamon, I’ll admit that’s not the greatest choice for Bonnie given who Damon is but excuse after excuse just as flimsy as the next which all equated to Bonnie doesn’t deserve her white fav and can only be with her self insert which all of her excuses pretty much equate to.

Bonkai does have a unique angle with the fact that Plec doesn’t like Kai, but I’m pretty sure that if she had Kai on Legacies it would pretty much follow the same pattern.

What I don’t understand is how anyone buys a word Plec says because the real answer to why anything happens is simply because she does or does not want them to. She doesn’t even follow the logic of her own show, so why would she follow any logic with anything else?

Why I’m Not Big On Klaroline

scorpio-karma:

You know I realized the reason why I really don’t like Klaroline us not really due to the pairing itself. I have no moral qualms with the abuse of it because it’s literally impossible with any TVD ship and I really don’t like the idea of quantifying abuse. If I hate one ship due to abuse I have to hate them all including my favorite ship, Bonkai, because abuse is abuse, plain and simple it’s terrible in every form and saying one is worse than the other does nothing more than trivialize serious matters because it wasn’t as bad. It’s unfortunate that certain things have to be overlooked, but I do feel that it works better in Kai and Klaus’ case due to their roles as antagonists however I still don’t consider them excuses.

The reason I don’t like Klaroline is because I now can’t help but think about the role they play in the oppression of Tyler and Bonnie. I used to like Klaroline, hell I even used to like Delena (but that got ruined for a whole slew of other reasons that didn’t even require deeper thought) because I used to be a very casual viewer of TVD, it wasn’t really a show I took that seriously so I pretty much took what ever the spoon fed me until season 5 when as a casual viewer I couldn’t even stomach it and had to stop watching. To this day I still haven’t seen the entirety of that season. But back to my point, now I really don’t like Klaroline because I can’t separate the reason why it’s there to begin with and the characters it screwed over with it’s existence.

@irresistible-revolution

I don’t watch TO, but given the posts I’ve been seeing regarding the series finale tonight I feel like this can add to the pettiness.

If you are a fanfic writer be careful! Delenas are stealing ideas (entire stories) for their shitty SHIP

scorpio-karma:

Ideas are really cheap, two writers can have the same idea and execute it completely differently and neither is considered plagiarism or infringement.

However I would give them a break because as much as they like to talk about “all that build up” there really isn’t much there at all. The most significant symbol in their relationship is a necklace Stefan gave to Elena. Their “real” first meeting is taken from LJ Smith’s, I believe fanfiction at the time After Hours in a scene between Bonnie and Damon. And as proven by seasons 4, 5, and 6 they don’t function AT ALL. They’re stealing ideas from other ships because they have to. They’re the most delusional shippers because they have to be, the ship doesn’t give them anything to work with. Plus given the source material and the original writer DE as we know it, you can’t expect much better from the fans — they only know what they’ve been taught.

All that aside, they really should come up with their own ideas or finally learn to cut their losses and jump ship because as I pointed out there is nothing there to work with.

bonkai-diaries:

Gee, I wonder why?

How is this news? When TVD ended she straight up said she wasn’t interested in any spin-offs. When asked about appearing in TO she said no in a meme. What the hell makes these people think she’s a) changed her mind and b) would sink that low again, she’s not desperate for work unlike certain past cast members–she doesn’t need to be desperate for work because she’s moved on to better things.

meritamen:

I dread to think about chris joining the legacies cast. No doubt that plec will come to the conclusion that there’s a witch perfect for Kai, especially since it won’t be Bonnie. Not gonna lie, I’d be hella bitter

Flashbacks to that Jalapeno Parker week, that was emotionally upsetting and to think we’ll have to relive it again but worse because it’ll actually be real.
