Cara, this in love with John again? Pretty soon she decides that she really likes Stephen. New Elena, only worse, boring as fuck.

I’m hating, Cara. It’s not so much because of Jostrid, but because she does not know what he wants.

Patterns.

How does this woman continue to get writing jobs at the CW? How have they not cut their losses with her yet?

Y’all I’m not gonna make it

Julie effing Plec opening her mouth on twitter to pontificate about how the Aziz Ansari scandal highlights the problem of “male aggression” and “female passivity” in our culture is going to give me an aneurysm or several. The show runner who gave us over a decade of passive white women being violated “loved” by violent white men all while black women are made to suffer unredemptive and banal torture on behalf of the white characters, who’s baited a fandom of young women for years so that they turn on each other in their bid to win the white male character’s love, who gave us such delightful romantic storylines as a man possessing a woman’s boyfriend’s body and then making out with her under false pretenses, a man who’s stalked and frightened a woman bribing her for sex in the woods, who has used the metaphor of the supernatural to enforce tired, misogynistic, racist tropes about gender over and OVER again despite YEARS of documented criticism, who has written FIVE SEASONS of a show based in New fucking Orleans with only a single black protagonist where black women are killed or abused or made into chattel regularly, THIS woman is weighing in on rape culture and consent as if she has a single effing leg to stand on. THE AUDACITY. THE HYPOCRISY. I am AGOG

Remember when she tried to claim what Damon did to Caroline wasn’t rape? He literally keeps having sex with her after putting her under his compulsion. Same with Andi, right?

And the worst part is the double standards she applies on certain characters, according to her, Damon was “boyfriend material” and Kai wasn’t. She literally said that. Gee, so I guess Kai being only interested in Bonnie was considered more disqualifying than Damon being a serial rapist.

Let’s not forget Andi, too. Andi who ends up being murdered as a pawn in the Damon-Stefan-Klaus game. And how like Caroline before her, Julie Plec argued that because Andi had given prior consent she couldn’t take it away even though Damon had literally turned both women to sex slaves.

Let’s not forget the sirebond that had Elena have sex with Damon while being essentially his slave – a plot that she admits she created just to break up Stelena and make Delena endgame.

Let’s not forget Klaroline’s first sex scene happening under the “I’ll have sex with you if you leave me alone” clause, and that’s the second epic romance of the series.

Let’s not forget Caroline being forcibly impregnanted with Alaric’s babies and having no reaction to her body being violated.

Let’s not forget the numerous “sexy” depictions of women being preyed on and bitten and fed on in what are clear rape analogies that is never addressed on the show. And how the violence by vampires on women is always on women – you rarely ever see Random Hot Boy being turned into sexy vampire snack.

My mind is blown. Is she really this big of a hypocrite or does she have zero self-awareness?

FJOAIJEOA;HFP;AGHOL because I didn’t watch the later seasons I almost forgot about her pulling that “Caroline is now being forced to carry her former High School teacher’s children via forced surrogacy” I’m so glad I didn’t watch that shit. -_- because YIIIKES.

How was she not thrown out of the studio at that point? Honestly what the fuck.

Jesus why must this racoon continue to talk out her neck. Is she even relevant anymore???

I think that’s the only reason why she is speaking about this topic because she knows she’s irrelevant.

Oh lord, I clicked that link and my bp just shot up. I can’t believe Julie Plec, professional internalized misogynist and epic racist, let this shit leave her mouth without any sort of apology or admission of guilt with intent to change on her part. Like not one “I fucked up before, but I intend to let my work reflect my new values,” not even a fucking insinuation that she knows she’s been problematic. Holy fucking hypocrisy.

Oh no that was what her article about Trump was for. And yet when you read that she seems even more dense than we all thought.

But because I read that article none of this surprised me. She speaks on shit she doesn’t have a clue and doesn’t ever intend to. She just wants what she’s always been striving for. Praise: it’s why Delena was end game (they’re the only faction a viewers that ever praise her writing), it’s why Klaroline is going to be in TO S5 (also the only faction willing to give her praise after the train wreck that is TO) AND it’s also why Benzo was ever, you think that was to placate Bonnie fans, no that was pure DE satisfy. She’s desperate and hoping to cash in on people’s current outrage in hopes that their anger will make them not realize she’s not really on their side.

Damon has always been random as fuck

When I reflect on Damon’s first appearance in season 1 and what he did to Caroline I always get confused as to why he did that to Caroline. It’s not so much I don’t understand why he would rape someone or even Caroline, he’s a predator. He explains exactly why he picks her in 4×04. It’s just that it doesn’t match up with he motives for coming to Mystic Falls.

He’s there for the comet to get Katherine out of the tomb. For such he needs Bonnie, but he doesn’t even approach her until Caroline gives her Emily’s talisman, something he didn’t plan for. He makes it clear that he’s using Caroline to accomplish his goal, but she’s literally useless to him. She’s not a Bennett witch, she’s barely friends with Elena, and while she is closer to Bonnie that friendship isn’t that strong either, at least for anything he planned for.

So again why Caroline? As much as I hate the idea, Bonnie should have been his target. Granted she’s a hell of a lot harder to manipulate, but manipulating Caroline wasn’t getting him anywhere and nor was it ever going to. Damon is a lot of things, but stupid isn’t one of them. It’s part of what makes everything he does so awful because he’s fully aware of exactly what he’s doing.

And if we want to delve deeper why didn’t he actually keep his end of the bargin with Emily knowing he’d need one of her descendents one day? It’s a lot easier to get something from someone when you’ve built a rapport with them and that’s actually something he knows. It’s never really been a new concept that his actions don’t match his motives, but you’d think they would try to have some consistency in the first season.

So honestly, what the fuck was Damon doing in season 1? Now keep in mind this is one of the better seasons, the one ran by Plec and Williamson, and it’s things like this that make me wonder why Williamson gets a lot if praise when it comes to TVD. Is he better than Plec? Yes. But is his overall writing better for the show? No, he’s contributed to a lot of the problematic aspects of the show and they start as early as the pilot because in general Caroline should have never been raped because Caroline doesn’t even fit in the plot there. It’s bad enough that it’s never acknowledged, but the fact that it was completely unnecessary to begin with just makes it even worse.

She doesn’t even fit into the idea in showing how brutal vampires can be because that’s what Vicki was for and the way she’s brutalized is at least consistent with necessary vampire behavior. The way Caroline is treated was unnecessary from the jump because again in 4×04, his usual routine does not involve raping them. Physically and mentally abusing them? Yes, but rape no. “Snach, eat, erase.” There’s nothing about Caroline for him to deviate from this. I know rape isn’t about logic, but storytelling is, especially for what impact you’re going for and this doesn’t serve for anything. It’s not impactful because Damon is never held accountable for it and it makes no sense to the plot. It’s just simple bad writing.

The show would have been better off with Caroline and Matt from the start and her living her normal because that was the one thing I liked about season 1, that they didn’t live in a vacuum where only them and the supernatural exists. That there were people in the dark simply living. It provided a nice contrast to the chaos of everything else.

I know I’ve veered off from my original point of Damon having always been random, but seriously how did anyone buy him as a character past the first season when he literally has no motives or objectives? He was essentially a random character doing random shit and has never had consistency.

You know, I had the weirdest realization about TVD. The character who had the most/best development is Tyler Lockwood and it’s a shame that he was pushed off screen for most of it due to Klaroline/Caroline.

leianaberrie:

It burns me that Tyler was murdered. He was a brilliant character, despite the shows constant efforts to humiliate him as a prop for the White men – Klaus, Stefan, Damon. TVD as a whole is an example of how brilliant story ideas were wasted by petty bigotry.

Both Bonnie and Tyler got screwed over in almost the exact same ways and it’s no coincidence as to why.

Seriously Plec?

Basically as the title says, my reaction to her recent interview with EW. I’ll start with this:

image

I literally have no words since she wrote one of the worst and laziest series finales in television history. I have no idea what she thinks she wrote, but that isn’t it.

image

Again I don’t know what she thinks she wrote but that wasn’t it. If they didn’t care about shippers or fans Damon would have died, hell, maybe even Elena, but that finale was basically geared to please no one. And what overall story? That episode is one of the most disjointed episodes of the series, the fact that it’s the series finale is just the icing on the cake.

image

I know somebody already touched on it but in what universe is that a satisfying ending for Bonnie. It’s basically ship bating with an added side of degradation of her character. That was literally my greatest fear for Bonnie’s ending, her basically pushed aside for Delena. This actually makes me happy about her ending because now I know exactly how much worse it could have been.

image

I really find that rich coming from her since she’s really never been all that great with character development or keeping up with characterization, but at what point has she ever worked off actor chemistry. If she did there’s a half-a-dozen Bonnie ships that would have come to fruition and Delena would have died with the triangle in season 3.

And speaking of Delena where was that attitude (highlighted in blue) with them in season 5. Seriously, you don’t know how much the show would have improved that season and the rest of the series if they had cut their losses with them. Delena had been explored to it’s fullest at that point and everyone realized that they’re boring and the only thing that could give them any semblance of interest was breaking up and getting back together, but even that just added to their mind numbing boringness and just added a nice brand new layer of annoying. I mean seriously, you didn’t like them pre S4 and found them annoying then well welcome to season 5 where they became unbearable.

image

Alright, now this drives me insane because how was Stefan dying more interesting? How? Now personally I wasn’t mad that he dies just the how because I was perfectly fine with any of the main trio dying if not all of them. But Stefan dying was definitely the more boring route because with Damon alive, all that basically there was to do with him was Delena AKA character regression for everyone. Damon dying was literally the best way for every character to move on and conclude the series. I guess KW is to blame there which means all the TVD writers are bad at they’re jobs.

Take away: How the fuck does Julie Plec still get writing jobs? And they wasted 8 years of my life all for a character they put no effort in and were never going to.

If Klaroline become endgame, I think I’ll be sick. It’ll be the second show Julie Plec would have ruined with fan service. I mean how does Klaus and Caroline getting together even make any sense?. Even the thought of it happening makes me not even want to watch. The last season should be about family, not centered around fan service ships.

Third show.

What’s the third show?

From what i know she also ruined Containment ending, another show from her.

I watched Containment but for the life of me I can’t remember how it ended. :/

The female protagonist (Kate Frank) died.

That’s not the ruined ending to me. To me the ruined part was the romance in general. The entire show takes place in about a two week span and Jake and Katie’s developed a little over a week and in that time a character with supposed commitment issues is in love and ready to be a stepdad? It kinda just adds to a pattern with Plec and ‘epic love’ because there were so many better ways to have a whirlwind romance there, but she couldn’t resist the ‘epic’ love and ended up with a love story where they ended up telling me instead of showing, another pattern of Plec.

Edit: She also ruined The Tomorrow People with John and Cara, so that’s four shows Plec ruined. I never saw Kyle XY, but I can guess based off of her history that there are fundamental issues there too, so she possibly ruined five shows and for some inexplicable reason is still employed.

Please. Bring Him Back!

I want there to be a storyline in The Originals that brings Kai Parker back. He was a wonderful character and one of the better villains. In my opinion, I thought his time during The Vampire Diaries was cut too short. He was funny, scary at times, likable, and a cutie. Not only that, I felt sad that he never truly had a chance to be redeemable. I loved the whole Bonkai will they or won’t they. It gave him more personality and humanized him when you thought the sociopath could never love or like anything. But Bonnie being Bonnie, it never had a chance. Malachai Parker is one of the more unique characters that The Vampire Diaries series has had and I personally don’t think his story is over.

Ew keep Kai TF away from Julie Plec and her characters.

@charskiis @leianaberrie exactly!

thehollowprince:

It’s no secret that I dislike the Mikaelsons – hell, at this point, I actively hate them – but this last episode has me livid in so many ways I’m not entirely sure where to begin with this rant.

For starters, there’s Freya.

I never really liked or warmed up to this character, who seemed to just be introduced to make up for the fact that Rebekah wasn’t a main anymore and they needed another pair of ovaries to balance out all the testosterone.   Since then, she’s just been there, and I’ve neither liked or disliked her, up until she condemned Davina’s soul to that torment to save her family from a threat that they created in the first place.  Since then, my hatred for her has only grown, starting with this building “romance” with Keelin, which is really just Stockholm syndrome, and then to her building that stupid dagger to kill Marcel, because he’s too powerful for her and her family’s comfort.  Does this bitch seriously not get that her paranoia over him being too powerful and unkillable is the exact same reason we have the Beast in the first place.

Having an ouroboros being the recurring theme/symbol this season is fitting, given how the Mikaelsons just continue to repeat the same mistakes they’ve made over the last thousand years.

And now let’s move on to the bigger issue I had this episode.

One Elijah Mikaelson…. my hatred for him burns with the white hot intensity of a thousand suns.  Watching him and Hayley is one of the hardest parts of every episode.  It has all the intensity and fascination of watching paint dry.  I much preferred both of them with Gia and Jackson, both of whom were killed off for not other reason than to set up Halijah, which is just bad writing.  Like, if you can’t get these two characters together without killing off others, than you have a problem with your own writing.

But what he said to Marcel, his monologue at the end – good gods, do these MIkaelsons like to monologue!

Elijah: But you and I, we both know he’s always regarded you as something of a son. So did I once upon a time. In fact, I used to believe that you were the key to my brother’s redemption.

Marcel: Redemption? He’s never gonna change, not even for his own daughter.

Elijah: Oh, but he already has. She (Hope) has changed him. You Marcellus, you are not needed, welcomed, or wanted. You have only been spared purely because you are my brother’s greatest weakness. And I cannot show mercy towards anyone who would demonstrate threat towards this family. And if indeed you should prevent the redemption, of the cruel, the wicked, the vindictive Niklaus Mikaelson, I promise you, I will deliver another kind of nightmare.

This was not only just insulting, but evil in ways that I don’t have words for.  As someone who is adopted – and that’s what Marcel was, even if not officially – this was beyond insulting.  This is akin to having my family come to me now that I’m all grown up and saying that I was never really a part of the family, just a pet project to amuse themselves with until they eventually had their “real” kids because they forgot to use protection.

Elijah has his head so far up Klaus’ ass that he must be under the impression that it’s a hat of some kind.  And Elijah’s obsession with his brother aside, the fact that they decided to keep Marcel locked up in a sewer is not only insulting, it’s racist – I mean, you take one of two strong black characters left on this show and make them subject to the elitist white asshole with delusions of their own grandeur.

It’s sad to think that after all these years with this universe, that I think I’ve finally decided to just stop watching.  But… I mean… I’ve reached the point where all I want to do is complain about the show anymore, because not a lot is anything I like.  The only reason I tuned back in this season was to see more of Josh and to see Marcel be the powerful one for a change, but here we are, five episodes in and they immediately came up with a way to kill him.
