According to this they spent Canadian Thanksgiving together which is really sweet when you consider the fact that in the early days of TVD the cast did a lot of activities together including Thanksgiving which Kat was never a part of.

Which one cried during a fucking disney movie? Bonnie. She’s a squishy little jelly bean and disney movies make her feel all the emotions.

Who had that embarassing Reality TV marathon? Atticus. He loves watching The Voice. Bonnie teases him about it and he’s always like “I watch it ironically. I don’t actually like it.” But she knows that’s not true because he gets really bummed out when his favourite contestant is eliminated and he sulks around for the rest of the day.
Who laughs more during sex? Bonnie. She gets all giggly when she remembers that they’re basically living out the naughty professor fantasy.
WHO IS THE LITTLE SPOON? Bonnie. She likes to do a lot of butt wiggling and feels smug when Atticus gets all hot and bothered.
Before you shipped Bonkai, who did you ship Bonnie with? Beremy for me. Maybe Konnie but I needed more scenes between them.
So I wasn’t all that attached to any ship on TVD before Bonkai due to being a really casual viewer of the show, but if there’s one ship that jumps out at me as something went hard for in terms of Bonnie it would be Shennett, or what I like calling Bane because that’s a cooler name.
I know that’s kinda a weird answer since he’s kinda a small blimp of character, and one that used her at that, but that was my jam back in the day. No other ship really jumped out at me until them and I remember really wanting her to go out with the college professor.
I was not happy that they just placed her back with Jeremy and not even because the whole cheating thing, but because the show always insinuated that he was her only option which is something I picked up on when I didn’t look that deep into the show. I think that was the first time I was really disappointed that they didn’t go the route that I wanted. Like I said a very casual viewer, so I didn’t really think of the show past when I watched it let alone to think about alternate storylines to the show.
But yeah, I was never all that into Beremy, pretty meh on Luca, and definitely didn’t go for Jaime (although I was excited to see Arnaz again and hoped he’d be on longer). Shane to me was the first viable potential love interest for Bonnie for me that I still think about today–it’s why he’s her first LI interest in my story.
So I watched some Bonnie scenes on YT of 4×11. Does it make me… strange that while Shane was there be a fucking weirdo all I could think was ‘Take off your clothes and ravish Bonnie’?

I just realized why I never really got into Kennett. It’s because during season 4 I was spending all my time paying attention to Bonnie x Shane. Obvious neither went anywhere because it’s TVD and ran by Julie Plec, but Bonnie x Shane were always my ship for season 4 and still continue to be.
But I always wondered why I don’t remember Kennett ever being any semblance of anything (other than the fact that I barely remember Kol) and that’s probably why. I was shipping a different crack ship.
What did you see in Bonnie x Shane if you don’t mind me asking?
The chemistry and potential between Bonnie and Kol was almost as good as BonKai despite them hardly having scenes.
Well for one I saw someone who was at her maturity level. At this point in the show we only see her with Jeremy who by all means isn’t my favorite character, but also waay beneath Bonnie. I think I really liked the idea of her being with an older man as weird as it sounds. To me he kind of transcended the MFG and their whiny problems and I liked how separate he was from them. As weird as it sounds I liked that he separated them from her and that she found power in herself that she hadn’t before because of him.
Secondly I saw someone who was advocating for Bonnie. Granted we later learn he’s using her but she was his priority, a character set aside for Bonnie away from the MFG, and I honestly think it should have stayed that way because his connections to Damon and them were flimsy at best. If there’s anyone else besides Bonnie from tbe MFG he should have been connected to it would have been Tyler and yet…they don’t interact.
And lastly I saw chemistry like any other ship but I remember in the beginning I got to see some of the Bonnie from the 1st season before her Grams died. The excitement in her at learning magic again, her thinking about how cute he is when she sees him in 4×04. It was just all so nostalgic before it all goes to crap and we learn her dark storyline is just about being another plot device.
But with all that said they were never really an OTP to me but more a route I wanted Bonnie to explore and they would eventually break up on her account and she comes back stronger having learned something about herself and her situation because that should have been an eye opener for about who she surrounds herself with and why she it was so easy for her to fall for him. I always knew it would put her through pain but for once it mean something in the end.
As for Kennett, there’s just something missing from it for me to get into it and I don’t know what. At first I thought it was because I barely remembered Kol because seriously all I remember from him was the scene at her graduation, which I still wasn’t picking up much there. But then I remembered how I came to ship Bonkai and it was before I ever watched them on screen or even knew who Kai was. I shipped them from a fanfic I read (I can’t remember which one) which then got me to watch season 6 to see them in person. So it can’t be that.
But there’s something about Kol that makes it hard for me to sit through fics with him. Like I don’t really understand it because I don’t dislike him, I just don’t care about him, so as a result it’s a hard ship for me to get into. It might be because I was never all that big on the Originals themselves. Like they were always overrated to me because though I do like Klonnie I’m very peculiar about what fics with them I can read and Bonlijah has always been hit or miss with me.
Essentially I don’t know why I can’t ship Kennett, but as my original post says, it might be because during their most prominent scenes together I was more concerned with a different ship.
I’m in the same boat as you. Kennett had potential but there just wasn’t enough for me to really ship it.
If Shane actually hadn’t been manipulating her or had a change of heart they’d be great together. He’s cute, funny, well travelled, supportive and knows a lot about witchcraft. And being an older man just seems to fit Bonnie better (also because it’s got that forbidden teacher – student angle to it.) So as an AU ship they’re fab.
1st: please do make those graphics i would eat them up.
2nd: It’s funny you mention forbidden because in the show the most forbidden it gets is human/vampire or vampire/werewolf where the age difference is astronomical, but the 10+ age difference is what squicks people out the most, and for that reason would be more forbidden than anything else on the show. They couldn’t even follow through on Alaric/Caroline, and people freaked out more than any other ship, I can only imagine the audience reaction back then to Shennett had itvactuslly happened and for once a guy wasn’t in her life just to use her.
