She was outside a record store, ’Tutti Frutti’ playing loudly from inside. Children from the neighborhood were gathered around taking her dancing form as instruction. He was enamored. The way she moved, the pure joy on her face as she danced as though no one was watching was all it took. He knew he had to know her.
After surviving dangerous work conditions at the ship yard an a flood that destroyed his home Rudy Hopkins rises out the ashes and pursues his passion of music by opening a record store. His daughter, Bonnie, who as the same passion for music as him, helps him everyday after school at the shop. When Kai Parker skips school one day and goes to the part of town his religious parents specifically forbid him from going he finds himself enamored with the record store owners daughter.
Kai and Bonnie face many obstacles in 1956 Portland when they fall in love at a record shop.
“You know Bon Bon, you deserve better than a lying jackass who cheats on his wife.”
Bonnie moves her head from the crook of his shoulder to look up at him. “If he’s a jackass, what does that make me?”
“The most understanding woman on the planet.” He laughs at his own stupid joke and she soon follows in laughter moving back to the passenger seat.
When the laughter dies down she gets pensive again. “Seriously Damon, what kind of woman sleeps with a married man and expects him to leave his wife and child?” Her voice breaks near the end.
Damon looks at her with a sympathetic smile. “One who hasn’t completely given up on romance. Trust me, Bon, you’ll find someone else in no time, and he won’t be married, and then you can tell Elena and Caroline all about him, and all will be good,” he says definitively.
Kai noticing Elena: Oh, that’s you …you ain’t shit.
Kai noticing Bonnie: “There’s my queen who just doesn’t know it yet” (look at the freaking wonder in his eyes.) Total kid looking through the candy shop window at a lollipop he can’t have.
i feel like now that i’ve hit the smut barrier in Marked, it’s just going to keep getting more frequent and more wild. like there’s probably some storyline somewhere in there but who can fucking tell underneath all that bonkai porn
Hey, someone has to makeup where the show failed to use their visceral chemistry.
“I’m serious Bonnie. We can’t keep doing this. I’m married.”
It was as though someone had poured cold water down her back. It wasn’t as if she didn’t know this already, but it beyond their first kiss she hadn’t been confronted with it. The last two months she had been in the ignorant bliss of having a boyfriend, being someone’s priority. Granted one she couldn’t tell her friends about, but that had barely been an issue.
I just finished writing the next chapter for Life Happens!
Granted it still needs to be edited, but it’s been almost a year and I have been working on this chapter periodically. I’m just so happy I finally finished it. It’s been ¾ of the way done for so long.
