Now that Bonnie is back home safely, she is faced with several complicated situations that requires her immediate attention. Saving Mama Salvatore, finding Caroline, and dealing with her own post traumatic stress disorder. When she finds herself torn between Damon and Kai, will she chose the lesser of the two evils, or will the weight of all of her burdens prove too much to bear?
me: when kai finally got the chance to see the love of his life but didn’t scream l can’t stop thinking about you… you’re gonna jump on top of me or what!
Post Season 8 AU: While in the midst of her travels Abby contacts Bonnie saying she needs to tell her something important and it can only be said in person. Together they travel to Alaric’s new school for the magically gifted so Abby can introduce her to a young woman. A young woman whom Abby kept secret from Bonnie for more than 20 years.
…I’m beyond sorry for how long this took. I’m not even gonna make excuses, I was lazy and lacked motivation for a while. To make up for it, hopefully, this is a pretty long chapter with plenty of BonKai interaction 😉 Once again I must thank @fuckitimfangirling for being such a wonderful beta reader and all around beautiful friend. As mention before constructive criticism please, first time fanfic writer here.
Plec psychologically manipulated the viewers to make as many people anti Bonkai as possible, let’s face it most people aren’t going to meta the show, most people just accept things at face value.
Plec shows: Bonnie hates Kai and gets PTSD.
The typical viewer:
Oh she hates Kai and he gave her PTSD. Screw Bonkai.
The viewers who are into analyzing stuff:
First of all her PTSD was a made up piece of BS to try and trash Bonkai, if Bonnie’s feelings were truly realistic she would have had PTSD ages ago. Her hatred is just an emotion they made her feel to trash Bonkai. It wasn’t done to treat Bonnie like a human being with feelings, no it was done because Plec doesn’t like any guy seeing Bonnie and ONLY Bonnie as the hot, sexy, powerful witch that she is.
If Plec fan girled over Kai, Bonnie wouldn’t have hated, she would have “tolerated/disliked Kai, and she would not have gotten PTSD.
For me, which I know I’m probably alone on, I like that he gave her PTSD. You see, I interpret it as him having a deeper effect on her that in a weird way his transgressions matter more to her and the fact that he had consequences sets him apart from everyone else in a good way because I’m more willing to accept them having a relationship due to such. After she left him in the prison world which is something I think she needed for her and he came back would have been a great time for them to work on things because after that they would truly be even and I would have been perfectly fine with her forgiving him because it adds creditability to his character which is missing in most of the main characters.
I think what makes the villains on this show so likable is that they have consequences. Sure it’s unfair that they get punished for doing the same exact things as the “heroes” of the show, but that’s exactly what makes them better. Because of these consequences they’ve earned their redemption and they’ve owned up to what they are — they aren’t hypocrites. So while I am frustrated by the treatment of characters such as Kai, I think about how much less likable they would be if they were treated differently, I’d be less frustrated, but I wouldn’t like them as much. They would become like Klaus for me who’s likability decreased significantly for me when he was downgraded from villain to anti-hero. I don’t hate Klaus, but I find myself a lot less willing to deal with his temper tantrums — more willing to deal with his than Damon’s, but still it got old quick especially now that there’s no real consequences to them.
Although contrastly I don’t feel that way about Bonnie, if they treated her right from the beginning I’d like her just as much minus the frustration.
So I updated the ‘Art of Payback‘,you can now read Chapter 3! Hopefully more chapters to come soon as I have a lot more free time on my hands now.
Bonnie and Kai each have their own weapons when it comes to fighting each other, but they are both equaly matched when it comes to the art of payback. Good o’ll 1994!Bonkai
“Geez. You can’t fool me. You trembled the first time I touched you. You were not afraid. But you did not want that. You did not want me to touch you. That’s why I did my best to make you feel at ease. I did not want to hurt you.” Bonnie looked up at him,“I do not want to hurt you.” Kai caressed her cheek tenderly. Her eyes became softer and slowly he smiled at that. “Can I kiss you? Lips to lips. Can I kiss you?”
Bonnie licked her lips before nodding.
What she thought was that it took too long to kiss her. She wanted that. She wanted to kiss him, but Kai purposely walked halfway down the road to let her do the rest of the way. To let her choose whether she wanted to kiss him or not. He wanted her to want him as much as he wanted her. He wanted her to feel what he was feeling. Bonnie wanted to kiss him too. It didn’t take time before the two of them moved slowly closer together. Paying attention to the half empty tray on her thighs, they closed their eyes and their lips crashed. Kai lightly brushed the tip of his tongue on hers before getting it into her mouth in a wet kiss. It was quick. Too quick to satisfy them both, but when she broke the kiss, Kai did not want to ask for another. Next time she would ask for a kiss first.
“Our good morning kissing time. I like that.” He muttered.
She could get used to that. Weekend breakfast in bed and lots of stolen kisses. Kai was taking care of her day by day, and it was really flattering. For all she understood, she was an obsessional source of love for him. As if someone had opened the Pandora’s box of his feelings and they were all dripping on her. It was good to feel wanted at all times. It was also scary. Kai’s supposed love looked sickly. If she continued in that path, he would contaminate her.
