Preacher AU:

That’s why we’re gonna go out and actually find God,”  Damon said as though that was a simple task.

“Oh, like a–like a road trip? With buckets of guns, sex, drugs, and shady characters dressed in bikinis?” Kai said with the excitement of a kid in a candy shop.

“Yeah. I imagine there’ll be a bit of that.”

“I’m in. Done.”

“I’m sorry, we’re just gonna, like, drive around, shooting people, getting sated, and looking for God?” Birdy interjected–the only one with any sense.

“Oh, I’m so in!”

Before you shipped Bonkai, who did you ship Bonnie with? Beremy for me. Maybe Konnie but I needed more scenes between them.

So I wasn’t all that attached to any ship on TVD before Bonkai due to being a really casual viewer of the show, but if there’s one ship that jumps out at me as something went hard for in terms of Bonnie it would be Shennett, or what I like calling Bane because that’s a cooler name.

I know that’s kinda a weird answer since he’s kinda a small blimp of character, and one that used her at that, but that was my jam back in the day. No other ship really jumped out at me until them and I remember really wanting her to go out with the college professor.

I was not happy that they just placed her back with Jeremy and not even because the whole cheating thing, but because the show always insinuated that he was her only option which is something I picked up on when I didn’t look that deep into the show. I think that was the first time I was really disappointed that they didn’t go the route that I wanted. Like I said a very casual viewer, so I didn’t really think of the show past when I watched it let alone to think about alternate storylines to the show.

Because i dont really feel like writing out the reasons I liked the ship this link pretty is where I explain everything about it: https://scorpio-karma.tumblr.com/post/171328657394/albion19-scorpio-karma-bonwhynot

But yeah, I was never all that into Beremy, pretty meh on Luca, and definitely didn’t go for Jaime (although I was excited to see Arnaz again and hoped he’d be on longer). Shane to me was the first viable potential love interest for Bonnie for me that I still think about today–it’s why he’s her first LI interest in my story.

When is Kai’s Birthday?

So I can never really pinpoint an answer, but I can reduce a few things.

1. So my first thought of when his Birthday could be is late May to early June because he is a part of the Gemini coven. This is obviously not true because by May 10th he was already 22.

2. Because he was born in 1972 his birthday 1994 is the year he turned 22 so his birthday is anywhere from January 1st-May 8th. Jo or Kai would have mentioned if the events of May 9th were on their Birthday.

3. Gemini merge is on or around their 22nd birthday and the news of him not being able to merge seemed to be new information by his reaction. So I believe his birthday had to have just recently passed from May 9th. Which reduces the range to April 1st-May 8th.

4. He has traits more suited for Aries than Taurus based on this websites description:

Which isn’t all that concrete because that doesn’t describe him that much but it describes him more than Taurus.

5. Contrastly Jo has traits closer to a Taurus and since their twins they share the same birthday. Unless he was born at 11 something and she was born just after midnight. Unlikely but cool if it was true.

6. Those last two points are all speculation based on my vague knowledge of signs. However that site had a very accurate description of Bonnie:

Which is why I trust it.

7. I wish they would have panned to his ID in 6×09 so I wouldn’t have to do this guessing game, but it is a minor detail that it took years to get that info from the main characters.

Side note: Season 3 we find out when both Elena and Caroline’s birthdays are, we don’t find out Bonnie’s until season 6. Even sadder, they don’t celebrate her birthday until the one year she’s not around to celebrate it.

What do you think of Bonnie x Prof. Shane? I know a lot of people were sqwicked out by it, especially since he turns out to be another guy using her, but had they gone the romantic route in s4 do you think it’d have been good? I always thought it’d be a great pairing for her, but not a lasting one. Like she would learn a lot from it which is why I wanted it to happen but weirdly so it could end. I thought it could serve in her development especially since he was written in for her.

leianaberrie:

If
you remove the fact that he was another guy using her, and just left him being
Sheila’s former protégé and he was just a human whose only agenda was his
interest/fascination in the supernatural – yes, that would have been a good ‘growth’
relationship for Bonnie. Thinking about it as I type, this ship has a lot going
for it. For one, as you said, he was one of the few characters written for
Bonnie – although you can argue that he was more specifically written as a
pathway for Bonnie to get her magic in order to service Elena (the Cure) and
he had a pre-existing relationship with Sheila which would have been a great
pathway for Bonnie to explore her history. If you want to go meta, there’s an
analogy there about contemporary POCs needing to access their own history via
White men. It would have been interesting to see the show use Bonnie and Shane’s
relationship to navigate/explore that. Much like it would have been interesting
to use the tomb vampires to navigate/explore property theft/exploitation/rewriting
history and Bonnie’s Bennett history with Mystic Falls to explore how white
people erase the contributions of pocs, specifically black people in history.
Even the usually squicky older!Professor/student hang-ups are averted since
Shane wasn’t her teacher or in a position of authority over her. Furthermore, if
you take out the unnecessarily humiliating dead-wife-and-son reveal, you can
even argue that Bonnie was using Shane, not the other way around since she
wanted access to forbidden magic and he was the means to do that.

I
won’t have wanted it as endgame for sure. He’s not pretty enough (lol) and he’s
not powerful enough. Bonnie would have eventually outgrown him, and moved on to
something bigger and more bad-ass.

It
kind of goes to show that the storylines they start Bonnie off with aren’t
necessarily bad. It’s the way they choose to execute them that sucks. Like when
you think about it, what value did Shane’s dead-wife-and-son add to the
storyline? Nothing. He might as well have been motivated by mundane curiosity/
fascination with magic. There was absolutely no need for him to have been
written that way but to shit on Bonnie.

I think the dead wife and kid was supposed to add to the cult mentality Shane had towards Silas, but they’re not used consistently enough for it to have that effect. He has one conversation with his dead wife and that convinces him to be a murderer??? And even more so without that one conversation we really wouldn’t have known otherwise that he was grieving these people.

For me what I really liked about Shane is how separate he was from the whole MFG. Like you noted the development she could have had, but even better it was development that the MFG couldn’t invade in on–in fact they shouldn’t have had. When his plots start coinciding with Damon and Elena it’s very unnatural. I always complain about the fact that in 4×04 neither Elena or Damon should have been there, they had absolutely no reason to be at Whitmore other than to invade Bonnie’s development which is a consistent problem. I liked the possibility of her going off and doing her own thing but we know that was never going to happen and if did she’d just be off screen for a handful of episodes (which she was).
