How would you plan out a Dark!Bonnie storyline? Would it have begun earlier or would it actually follow her “I’m done getting pushed around by you all” comment? (Still bitter over that) and would Bonkai be endgame?

Actually pretty much all of that. I answered this once in an ask but I would begin Bonkai earlier in the Prison World by extending their time there. Basically cat and mouse games that at first are tiring but eventually she delights in. She enjoys killing Kai and Kai just enjoys the intimacy of it because it’s the closest thing he’s ever had to intimacy. Some of these adventures would involve sex, very dangerous sex that often ends in one of their deaths, but the thrill is always worth it.

They would of course eventually get out, either by their own devices or a rescue mission on the MFG gone wrong where Bonnie and Kai get out but someone else gets left behind via betrayal of Bonnie and that’s when she would start loving for herself and stop getting pushed around.

In the real world they would go their separate ways until Bonnoe has issues adjusting and seeks Kai out. She finds him covered in blood next to a dead body. Instead of being disgusted she’d feel at home because she was having trouble adjusting to the people, but adjusting to the lack of violence. They if course ignore the body and fuck each other’s brains out.

I’d obviously want Bonkai endgame but I don’t know where to go from there, either killing spree, or they become the king and queen of the Gemini coven.

Tyler joining Bonnie and Kai, forming a powerful triumvirate. He was screwed over too, and had wasted potential with Bonnie and overall.

So weirdly enough I don’t know exactly how I would pull this off. They’re all characters I absolutely love, but I view Bonnie with each of them vastly different, and not only that I view their goals vastly different from each other.

As I mentioned in my I can’t get this idea out of my head post, Tonnie is my fluffy ship. I view Bonnie very sweet with Tyler, much like her old self before vampires, originals, etc. It’s probably why it’s my second favorite Bonnie ship, because it taps into a part of Bonnie almost feel long forgotten, her innocence so to speak. And I feel like she’d bring that part out in him as well, what it felt like before his anger issues took over and his father started beating him.

Also while they deserved better for a lot of the same reasons, I feel the ways to correct their injustices are a bit different. With Bonnie I feel she needed to go dark. A) because villains have the most fun and B) because they also reveal the most truth. She needs to see the truth of her situation before moving on to better herself and that’s where Bonkai came in for me.

He tapped into something very visceral in her. She went place she had never gone because of him and I loved seeing that part of her. It was messy and chaotic and for the first time they were tapping into parts of herself that were willing her to fight for herself for once.

With Tyler he didn’t need to see the truth, he usually saw the bigger picture. What needed to be rectified with him was his perspective needed to truly be seen. Bonnie needed this as well which is what made them a great pairing for each other because they could see each other’s struggle and not only sympathize, but empathize which I think was missing from Foreword. Not to say Caroline didn’t have any empathy for Tyler, but past his transformation episode she struggled to understand what he was going through and often couldn’t see past her loyalty to her friends.

So combining the innocence of Tonnie with the darkness of Bonkai sounds really really interesting BUT I just don’t know how to visualize it.

Like, I get that apparently, witches in Esther’s bloodline, firstborn ones, are born with devastating power but that still don’t explain why Hope is basically magical jesus. I am tired of the white chosen one narrative, uwu blessed white child. Kai and Bonnie’s children would have multiple reasons as to why they’re powerful

I always wide-eyed people who call Estger the Original witch because a) just completely inaccurate there were witches well before her and that’s noted in the episode explaining her origins, and b) the spell that made her famous was stolen from Ayanna Bennett who was an ancestor of Qetsiyah, the originator of that spell. Pretty much everything she did was built on the backs of the Bennetts, they just don’t get the credit–they never get the credit they just always end up in the servant position while the show kept trying to pass it off as “best friend” or my personal favorite “handmaiden”.

The moment Esther is introduced, the first white witch on the show, is the moment witches started getting more agency, but only of they were white. With her introduction the number of black witches, the default up until that point, starts dwindling, and it was as though Plec was saying, “ah, witches I can finally write for” because it was only then that they stopped being servants.

So after observing this I don’t mess with white witches on the show whether it be Hope, or Wonder twins, or even Liv and Luke. I need more than them being white to explain their emense power and agency, which Kai had. I knew why he was so powerful, first dependent on the amount of power he absorbed, then due to the fact that the collective power of the Gemini coven.

And then there’s Bonnie, there’s almost a “chosen one” attribute to her, but she never gets to enjoy it, she never gets to have agency over her magic which is what eliminates her from that category, but that doesn’t stop people from complaining. Over the years I’ve seen more complaints about the Bennetts being apart of every big magical event than I have about Hope, and the wonder twins near God like level of magic which is crazy when you consider they’re all plot-hole characters to begin with. It angers people that Bonnie is supposed to be so powerful which after all she had been through I don’t understand why. There’s more explanation for her prowess as a witch than there has been for any other character, but they didn’t have issues with that.

So in short, I’m tired of the “white chosen one” narrative too especially even within these narratives the Bennett line has done more impressive things, they just are never acknowledged.

Bonnie and Kai crafting prison worlds except they’re places for their children to train their immense powers safely. It’s perfect. You can’t die there, the worlds can resemble any environment.

This is what the prison worlds were intended for when the Bennetts created them but just like with the merging ceremony the Geminis found a way to bastardize it. It’s different with the Parker-Bennett kids, namely the Bennett part that needs to get it’s origins back since they’ve almost been completely wiped out.

Boo-Kai Week Day 1: Samhain

Boo-Kai Day One: Samhain

Honor the Ancestors

Still stuck in 1994 with Kai, Bonnie continues a tradition she had lost along with her Grams when that time of year comes around.

After she sent the bear away with her magic things turned in to one giant worldwide game of cat and mouse. Kai reveled in it. Bonnie was tired, but she never lost her fight.

He had done his math, today was Samhain, and he couldn’t wait to find Bonnie to celebrate—he had so many plans most of which wouldn’t be pleasant for her. He found her easier than he thought—in Mystic Falls— too predictable he might add which had him worried it was a trap. She was in Sheila’s old house so he figured the loneliness got to her.

He went to open the door and saw that she locked it. He chuckled to himself. We’re in my world—there’s no such thing as a locked door. He carefully picked the lock and continued to barge his way in.

He expected the death of some kind when he walked in but nothing. In fact, the entire house seemed silent. If he wasn’t so attuned to her he would have thought she wasn’t there. He followed the dim lighting. She was in the dining room sitting at a larger table with several empty seats. In front of each of the seats, there were candles lit.

She was eating what looked to be stuffing with apples celery and walnuts. He couldn’t be sure though because it was a lot darker than any stuffing he’d ever eaten. She took a sip of some amber liquid completely ignoring his presence.

“A dinner party without me, how rude.” He said with fake indignation.

He went to sit in one of the many empty seats when she stopped him. “Not there, that’s Amelia’s place.” He moved one seat over. “Not there either that’s Grams.”

He aimed for another seat but by the look on her face, he could see it wasn’t a seat for him. “Is there a chair here not occupied by one of your imaginary friends.”

“They aren’t imaginary friends, they’re my ancestors.”

“I don’t care who they are I just don’t want my head taken off over someone who doesn’t exist.”

She glared at him. “You can sit at the end of the table.” The seat that as farthest from her.

He unceremoniously started piling food from the middle of the table onto his plate. He took one bite and his face scrunched in dissatisfaction. “You know, cooking, not one of your strong suits Bon Bon.” She continued to ignore him.

He looked around the room and noticed more things about it. There was an altar in the corner of the room—it wasn’t very organized, but it looked important. It was filled with knickknacks—things he wouldn’t think twice about but they were important enough for her to put at an altar.

“So you want to tell me what’s going on? I was expecting more of a fight, but dinner party for the dead works for me too.”

“Do you know what today is?”

“Of course, I was going to have so much fun torturing you. I still could,” he added.

“I don’t know how you celebrated Samhain in your house, but this is how we celebrated in mine”

“Yeah, ours was a lot more chaotic. Would have been my favorite holiday if we didn’t have to sacrifice the goat.”

“Let me get this straight, you have absolutely no problems killing your own siblings, but you draw the line at goats.”

“The goat never did anything. It was completely innocent, why should it die?”

“Because you’re all about preserving innocence.”

“Couldn’t give a shit about that. That just wasn’t how I wanted to spend my Halloween night when I could have been eating candy like every other kid.”

“I guess I get that. Grams used to do this every year on Halloween. I hated it. I didn’t understand why we couldn’t just go trick or treating like everyone else, but then my mom left and my dad didn’t let me near anything magic related, so it became a non-issue. I didn’t realize until later how important it was. My ancestors sacrificed themselves for the greater good over, and over again, they deserve something for that.” Bone had a faraway look as she stared at the pace for her Grams.

“Cheers to that,” he said grabbing the drink he made himself. He took a sip expecting the burn of bourbon and was pleasantly surprised when it was cider.

Bonnie broke out of her reverie and went back to her meal. “What about you? Do you have any ancestors you want to honor?”

“God, no. Nobody in the Gemini coven has ever done anything good enough to worth honoring for. Why do you think we killed goats each year?”

“Everybody has their own traditions.”

“I suppose they do.” He took another sip of cider. “Each and every one of your ancestors died sacrificing themselves, why are you so determined to join them?”

“I’m not, that’s why I invited you here.”

“What?”

“Did you really think it’d be that easy to find me?”

“No,” he said smiling.

“What do you say we get out of this hell hole?”

With a maniacal smile, he said, “I always win.”

Bonkai wedding with a hand fastening ceremony, them as king and queen of the Parker Bennett coven.

Kai: You have really nice hands, really soft.

Bonnie: Good to hear because you’re stuck with them forever.

Rebekah: Now that you’re done flirting with the bride can I get back to officiating your wedding?

Nature creates everything with a balance. For every siphon, there is a “source” a witch of extraordinarily vast magical reserves. They’re drawn to one another. Bonnie’s magic is very soothing for Kai, euphoric.

I don’t know what else to add, I just live for this headcanon. It would explain his fascination with Bonnie, it’s not just that she’s the first woman he’d seen in 18 years but it’s her specifically.

I mean we always saw that in the different interactions he’s had with the other characters. First example that comes to mind is when he kidnaps Elena and tortures her. Compare that to when he hurt Bonnie. 1) he’s a lot more close and personal, 2) he tries to take care of her after with the exception of when he left (although if you ask me he had to have patch her up in someway because she should have just bled out) and 3) he’s a lot more personal with her in the details he tells her, he makes sure she’s listening to his story with Elena he just talked because he wanted to talk. It was part of the appeal of Kai, he wanted nothing to do with Elena or Caroline, he only had eyes for Bonnie even when she wasn’t the only option he had, she wasn’t his last resort.

Anyway this idea goes right along with the headcanon that Bonnie has an orgasm every time he siphons her–it’s euphoria for both of them.

Forever mad Bonnie didn’t really get to delve into a dark magic storyline. Other, mostly white, witches use it all day with little to no repercussions but Bonnie is punished. Give me Bonnie fully steeped in black magic (or Expression) and Kai and her are the most powerful duo, a force to be reckoned with, cutting a swath of destruction and mayhem.

Yaasss, bitch I’m forever bitter. With all the things that were wrong in season 4 I held on hope that I would get a dark!Bonnie storyline which is why I was never quite able to let go of Shennett as a ship. They were like my Bonkai before Bonkai was a thing in that he showed her the dark facets of her self and helped her hone them.

Of course, that storyline went into the nomans land of potential, Shane’s killed off and Bonnie soon followed and all hope was lost until Bonkai–and it was even better than before.

And then it was more devastating than before because here we have these two evenly matched powerful characters and we couldn’t even get hate sex 😭😭😭.

But yes give me that version of the show where Bonnie and Kai are aligned together against the MFG, where they have the tension of 7×21??? the huntress storyline, and even the moral alignments of that episode because that was one of the very few times they didn’t make her the bad guy for going against the main characters. Bonnie eventually breaks free and then actually goes to find herself like said she was when she died at the end if season 4 and then essentially what happens in the tags of my “Bonnie’s Alternate Wardrobe Season 5” post.

Bonkai pillow talk be like “Here’s how we’ll destroy the people who wronged us”. Kai surprises Bonnie by bringing her Damon or Klaus, magically restrained or desiccated with a bow wrapped around them. “I knew nothing would make you happier” 💖

At first Bonnie would be apprehensive. While she understood the sentiment she was always conditioned to just let things go, bad thing always happen when she held a grudge. But then Kai happened taught her to be selfish, made her realize that she deserved retribution.

She nearly killed Klaus once, but she was stopped by her friends. She nearly killed Damon once but she stopped by her friends too. There’s no one there to stop her now.
