I’m kinda new to this whole TVD/TO and I know people have always been rude to Kat (not just the writers), and I know there was a lot of drama recently with TVD/TO fans and Kat and them being rude to her which eventually led to her making her twitter private for some time, but what was the hate she got earlier like? Whose fans were the majority of the haters, and was it as bad as the hate directed towards LP and PT? Also did people call out said haters for what they sent her?

Why did (do) people hate bonnie. I’m a ride or die fan of KG (and Bonnie) and I REALLY don’t want to enter the anti tag, so I was just wondering why? Like she barely had any screen time so why do people hate her so much? I once went on buzzfeed (forgive me sister for I have sinned. I was bored and had nothing better to do) and there was one article that was titled “why TVD should ditch Bonnie”. Why is that even an article? Why is there so much hate towards Bonnie?

tbh i wasn’t ever a huge part of twitter fandom or at the forefront of the ship wars where bonnie was concerned. i’ve pretty firmly been in my little klonnie rowboat since the beginning and since they had such little canon interaction they were never subject to hate and attacks like the other ships. i can see why a lot of people might not like the writing for bonnie’s character – it’s incredibly frustrating and depressing watching her sacrifice herself for and enable her toxic friends year after year – but i can’t fathom any reason someone might hate the character and the actress herself other than racism.

If I may….and let me preface this by saying I used to work nights and a lot of times I needed something to do to keep me awake….so I would go online and read the TWOP recaps and (try to at least) participate in the discussion.

But it started before the show even aired. It wa another Iris West situation (why is she black? Why did they change her character so much? I can’t relate to her now etc…) bitching about how they should have stayed faithful to the books (while completely glossing over how Elena has BLOND hair, there was NO jeremy in the books. Damon and Stefan were NOT originally from Mystic Falls etc)

So, when it premiered of course Kat was “the weakest acting link” people didn’t like how the character was portrayed, they didn’t like how she was wary of Stefan (especially after her Grams died) blah blah blah. But the first real shot across the bow was that damn Gilbert device.

OH MY F@&#ING GOD.

You would have thought Kat/Bonnie came into their houses while they were sleeping, kicked their dog, ate all their ice cream, and took a shit on their living room rug.Yes it was that bad.

From then on, no matter what she did, that damn device was brought up as a reason to want her gone. Then came season 2 and Caroline is turned.

OH MY F@*#ING GOD part 2 Electric Boogaloo.

By this time everyone seemed to have forgotten how much they hated her in the first season. She was their new baby, and the fact that Bonnie was mean to her (still made her a daylight ring, tho) and wanted to exercise a little caution, was just unthinkable/s. Also the fact that Bonnie still was hesitant to just jump to do Damon’s bidding was even more fuel on the fire. But eventually she did get worn down and pretty much toed the line, whenever they needed magic, she would sometimes give a token objection, but she’d do it anyways. Speaking of objection, that leads us to the episode where Rebekah kidnapped Damon and strung his ass up.

OH MY F#*#^ING GOD, the trilogy.

When Bonnie left him there, you could practically hear the howls! “How dare she leave him there? She’s so heartless! She should have been strung up! Why is she so mean to Damon, he’s never done anything to her!”

Meanwhile I’m like, she shoulda got in on that with Bex, but I digress.

I remember reading one comment that has stuck with me, because it applies to so many black/brown characters and their stories/arcs. It was in the episode where they turned Abby and someone was giving Bonnie shit cause she didn’t want to speak to Elena. Another person was like ‘give her a break, mom just got turned to save Elena let her be sad’. This person had the gall to say ’ yeah I can see where it would be sad, I’M JUST SAYING I DON’T CARE.

And that stuck with me cause, damn. If they had kept Bonnie’s casting as a cute little redhead how much do you wanna bet a lot more people would be pissed about how that went down?

I’ve come to the conclusion (totally non scientific of course) that when people watch shows with certain characters, and they do self inserts, it’s usually never as the down trodden one. It’s not the one that does all the work for little to no recognition. That’s never been more clearer to me than in watching TVD. They imagine themselves a Caroline or Elena, not a Bonnie. So they don’t even try to see her POV.

Wow that got long. And no, I’m not saying Bonnie was perfect, she wasn’t. None of them were, but they were kids tackling a lot of messed up stuff. I give Bonnie as much of a pass that I give Caroline, can others say the same thing? Or are you holding her to a different standard because you expect her to be strong and swoop in to save everyone, while not saying a word about her personal discomfort?

I remember a lot of this. I didn’t really interact with anyone about the show but comment sections on YouTube videos, etc. Clues me in on some of it, I just didn’t care at the time because to me they were just internet people, who cares what they think? I haven’t had much of an online presence until recently when I realized how much ‘internet people’ mattered.

Why I’m Not Big On Klaroline

You know I realized the reason why I really don’t like Klaroline us not really due to the pairing itself. I have no moral qualms with the abuse of it because it’s literally impossible with any TVD ship and I really don’t like the idea of quantifying abuse. If I hate one ship due to abuse I have to hate them all including my favorite ship, Bonkai, because abuse is abuse, plain and simple it’s terrible in every form and saying one is worse than the other does nothing more than trivialize serious matters because it wasn’t as bad. It’s unfortunate that certain things have to be overlooked, but I do feel that it works better in Kai and Klaus’ case due to their roles as antagonists however I still don’t consider them excuses. 

The reason I don’t like Klaroline is because I now can’t help but think about the role they play in the oppression of Tyler and Bonnie. I used to like Klaroline, hell I even used to like Delena (but that got ruined for a whole slew of other reasons that didn’t even require deeper thought) because I used to be a very casual viewer of TVD, it wasn’t really a show I took that seriously so I pretty much took what ever the spoon fed me until season 5 when as a casual viewer I couldn’t even stomach it and had to stop watching. To this day I still haven’t seen the entirety of that season. But back to my point, now I really don’t like Klaroline because I can’t separate the reason why it’s there to begin with and the characters it screwed over with it’s existence.

Bonnie Suspiciously Missing:

I get why she wasn’t in the 2009 comicon pic–the triangle was they’re marketing strategy then, but why is she missing from 2010-2012, she’s certainly more important than Caroline, Jeremy, Alaric, Tyler, and Matt.

I feel like I’ve read all the bonkai and klonnie fics and I need something new. You seem like a good person to ask for fic recommendations please?

Finally a week later, sorry it took so long but hopefully the length of this list makes up for it. Please note when asked for fic recs I take them very seriously and as noted by this long list I will rec you a million and one fics especially without many restrictions on what you’re looking for. Some of these you may or may not have read but I’m putting them here anyways in case you hadn’t.

Tonnie:

  • Stranger Than Fiction by norrific: 

    Oh my God, you’re caught between a vampire and a wolf. You know who that makes you’ ‘Don’t say it, Caroline.’ ‘Bella Swan.’ ‘I told you not to say it.’ ‘Come on Bonnie, how could I not say it.‘  

While this is a Damon, Bonnie, Tyler love triangle I consider this a Tonnie fic all the way because not much case is made for Bamon at all in this fic. 

  • Bitten by CarlyCo: Bonnie is back from the dead and she just wants to have a normal life. But her quest for a normalcy is derailed when Damon decides to use authentic ‘hillbilly’ moonshine to get over Elena. A moonshine fueled one-night stand with an unexpected partner results in Bonnie biting off more than she can chew. Although, to be fair, Bonnie wasn’t the one doing the biting.

I love this fic and this author and this pairing it’s like a trifecta of greatness for me.

  • Runaway by romeosareveryundependable: 

    Tyler was told Bonnie was dead so why is she partying it up at a New Orleans nightclub? Before Tyler has a chance to investigate, his memories of Bonnie are wiped and the King of the Quarter himself thrusts Tyler into a struggle for the city, a struggle Bonnie is already very much a part of.

Pretty much what we always wanted with Bonnie away from the MFG, in fact they think she’s dead. It also does a great justice Tyler and framing the pain Klaus put him through. Along with Tonnie there’s also some great Klonnie flirting. 

  • Indecent Liasions by charrrmed: The night of the Originals’ ball finds Bonnie taking a walk to clear her head of her problems. She stumbles upon Tyler who is desperately trying to break Klaus’ sire bond, only to suffer a disappointing setback when he learns Bill, who was supposed to mentor him, is dead. Could this be what actually sets him free? What follows is a story about two teenagers, one more lost than the other, coming together and exploring a different use for the banes of their existence, their powers.

A nice sexy alternative to the Mikaelson Ball and why she was missing from it,

  • Rebellion by romeosareveryundependable: 

    Bonnie’s disillusioned after Shane turns out to be just another person looking to take advantage of her, and Tyler’s anger is reaching a boiling point after his mother’s murder. When the two run into each other at a bar, things get physical, and despite (and in spite of) Tyler’s relationship with Caroline, they keep getting physical.

Warning: it is a cheating fic, but has some really hot smut.

  • A Side of Lockwood, A Shot of Bennett by Nicole Lo: 

    But in this reality you are Tyler Lockwood, ultimate player, d bag, man w****. She’s Bonnie, the most beautiful girl in school, the only one you’ve been able to fall in love with … a branch off from the Bamon in “My Last Breath” R/R 

This one is actually a prequel to a different fic but you don’t have to read the other fic for it to make sense, in fact it make more sense if you don’t read it. 

  • Breed by bigwhoopers: 

    Bonnie is forced to have children by a vampire hunter. 

TW: Rape, it’s essentially Bonnie and Tyler get kidnapped by either Augustine or the Armoury, I can’t remember which one they chose they’re essentially the same, and are forced to breed to create a better vampire hunter. They obviously bond over the exact same trauma and the desire to leave with the same stakes. 

One of those cute pre-canon Bonnie stories.   

One of my favorite Tonnie fics, is essentially a really long smut fic but there is a plot. It’s essentially a rewrite of season 4. 

  • Bewitchment by Xenahime92: 

    Who wishes that Tyler and Bonnie were closer? What if the Masquerade happened differently? ‘How did the pull he once felt for her became the only thing that was literally holding him to the ground and making sure he didn’t drown? In all of one night, Bonnie became his air.. and he wouldn’t change it for anything in this world.

I think the summary explains it all. Warning it does bash the main trio and Katherine.

  • Joys of Sex by DizniPrinzess: 

    Bonnie and Tyler embark on a sexual journey together. Takes place before the show starts in their Sophomore year.

It’s a smut fic that does a great job of not over-sexualizing Bonnie, it’s literally her journey into having sex and the fun and not so fun parts of it.

  • Flesh by waitingforyouonce: Tyler returns to Mystic Falls intent on getting revenge on Klaus, but a charged encounter with a recently resurrected Bonnie changes his focus and he decides to stay in town for a different reason.

Another smut fic that deals with the aftermath of Klaus banishing Tyler but takes a sexy detour.

  • First of All… by Angelika: 

    When Tyler first gets the words “First of all, bitch…” on his arm as his mark, he is obviously less than pleased. He also never expected that it would be the response to tapping Bonnie (also known as “Hot Girl Who Works at the School LIbrary”) on the shoulder two years later. Unfortunately, Bonnie thinks he’s a spoiled, arrogant, douchebag. She’s right, obviously (not that he’d ever admit it).

An adorable soulmate fic that features a Bonnie and Tyler in college with none of the things that happened in canon so they’re a lot more light-hearted.

Shennett:

  • Rate My Professor by charrrmed: 

    College preparedness includes meeting your professor before the first day of class. A visit to Whitmore leads to Bonnie’s first teacher evaluation, Caroline’s turn as a mentor, and Elena’s first blood high.

A fic that plays on what I really liked about Shennett in the beginning which was that he brought back S1 Bonnie who was bubbly and full of wonder. Also there’s some pretty hot sex and it’s essentially what 4×04 should have been. 

  • Mentor by Albion19: Missing scene set in 4×10. Shane promises to always protect her and Bonnie starts to realise it is more than a mentoring relationship for her.

One of many nice AU’s of season four but with Shennett, the ship I was never quite able to get over. 

  • Where was my fault in loving you? by Ana Graves: 

    Bonnie Bennett didn’t really know what love and hate was until she met Him. He changed everything. Her understanding of the world, her feelings, her passions. He changed her for good. When she is trapped between loyalty, desires, love and hatred – what would she choose? Bonnie & Shane, takes place after 4×10; T for now.

Unfortunately there’s only one short chapter but when it comes to this pair I take what I can get especially if it’s well written.

  • Paradise Circus by MidnightStorm6593: 

    Eventually she gives in just like he knew she would.

It’s not really a Shennett but more of a Bonnie x Silas fic, in Shane’s body.

Again I take what I can get with this pairing.

It’s a great dark alternative to season 4, but it’s a smutty one shot. 

Bamon:

  • All War is Based On Deception by CarlyCo: 

    Bonnie Bennett has been in love with unrepentant playboy Damon Salvatore for as long as she can remember. On the worst day of her life, the young woman learned that she was going to be his wife. At first, it felt like a dream come true. The merger of their powerful families increased their wealth and influence exponentially. There wasn’t a woman or man alive that wasn’t envious. Four years later, their life is plagued by lies, secrets, manipulation, infidelity, and violence. Bonnie has finally realized that fairytales aren’t real and that she needs to grow up fast. Will Damon and Bonnie’s marriage be able to weather the oncoming storm? 

One of my favorite fic ever, it’s just so elaborate and well thoughout It’s Bamon probably in it’s purest form in that Damon doesn’t deserve her and in turn loses her and almost everything. It’s not finished yet, but at some point I assume he does earn her back, but as of right now it’s very Tonnie oriented as far as pairings go, but so much more than pairings are going on in this fic. 

  • Something Real by Gurl6: 

    Even if she was less vapid and more interesting than the other women he was seeing, this thing tonight wasn’t going beyond coffee and hopefully sex. (AU, No Supernatural)

A nice all human Bamon fic that, like most Bamon fics, has him OOC while completely in character because that’s the only way to write him in a palatable way. 

  • Notorious by Cleo Clipper: 

    At 18, Damon Salvatore was the Golden Boy of Mystic Falls with the world at his fingertips. He had money, a football scholarship to a prestigious school and power people could only dream of. At 19, he’s become one of the most dangerous drug dealers Mystic Falls has ever seen. And Bonnie Bennett can’t help her dangerous attraction to him. All human. R&R please and thank you

This is a great fic that I read in one whole night when I should have been sleeping. 

  • It’s Like a Best Friend But More by roxyhoney: 

    Damon Salvatore could be arrogant, annoying, and sometimes downright intolerable. Damon Salvatore had a soft spot for those he cared about, an amazing heart, and eyes that could reach inside someone’s soul if you stared long enough. Damon Salvatore was my best friend, and I’ve known him since I was born. So, falling for him was out of the question… right? (all human)

It’s a nice AH/AU that basically rewrites the whole MFG. It has a Damon who fights for Bonnie, a Bonnie who has multiple people vying for her attention.

  • Blood and Bourbon (both) by lighteninginmyeyes: 

    What happens when Bonnie Bennett, law student and all around Good Person, finds herself living next to the infamous Damon Salvatore, rock-star/playboy-guitarist, all around Not-So-Good-Person? Collection of loosely connected one-shots. (rom-com drama)

Like most of my Bamon recs it’s AH which makes sense because that’s really the only way I tolerate Damon, that’s very in character to how their relationship/friendshi would have evolved. as noted by “both” there’s the original and the rewrite, both are great. 

  • Seven by bellavida0213: Seven days until his freedom, Damon reflects back on his life with Bonnie Bennett, the mother of his children and what lead him to lose her. He is determine to win her back and lead a straight life. AU All Human. Mentions of recreational drug use

Again me and my AH/AU ass, this is a great kis fic as well as over arcing story ans the kids don’t take over the fic. It’s a great perspective on life in poorer communities and the system. 

  • Enemy by Sunny D Writez: 

    Bonnie and Damon have never been able to stand each other, despite the fact that she’s best friends with his brother. Struggling to break free of their own toxic relationships, they find an escape in each other, while desperately trying to fight any feelings that may go beyond the physical. AU/AH 

An AH enemies to lovers fic, not really for Tyler fans, nut note he’s wildly OOC and there mostly to serve as an opposing party for Bamon to show in contrast. But it’s a really great fic and if you love Stelena is feature a great deal of them as well. 

  • Frigid by SpiralingForever: 

    Bamon AU. The undead walk the earth. No police. No law. Civilization is dwindling. Bonnie begins to discover her magic a little too late. Can she become the person she needed, or jaded just enough to live only for herself? *Warning* Drugs. Non-Con. Graphic Violence.

A zombie apocalypse AU and the only one I’m recing that has Damon as a vampire and Bonnie as a witch. It does have a depressing undertone but it’s a zombie apocalypse so why wouldn’t it. This fic is a great AU and expansion to the lore.  

Stefonnie:

  • A Kiss Before Lying by strictlyficly: 

    They didn’t have their memories. They all envied that, though deep down inside they knew if anyone should be able to have that privilege it should be them. Yet with that being said, that privilege came with difficulties because they no longer had their loyalty. It wasn’t until now that they realized how much they relied on them when they were trouble. How much they leaned on them.

This fic is essentially the epitome of “Bonnie and Stefan deserve better.” 

  • Kindred by waitingforyouonce:

    Stefan doesn’t know what it is about the Bennett women that draw him in, but he has never had a problem walking into the fire.   

This one is kinda a multiship because it has Stefan hooking up with all of the Bennett clan but I’m putting it in Stefonnie because I have so few. 

Bonkai:

  • Precipice by ms-ssnape: 

    The Bennett Coven and the Parker Coven have worked together for centuries to lock evil away in the Prison Worlds but that doesn’t mean Bonnie Bennett and Kai Parker ever have to get along… at least not until a secret is revealed that just might change everything. AU. Rated M for future chapters. (Written for all the people on tumblr who said they were interested.)

  • Picket Fence by IAintPunkRock: 

    Bonnie Bennett is just a typical fresh high school graduate when she came back to Mystic Falls to visit her grandmother. Trying hard to be as normal as she can be, she went to adjust at her seemingly new environment with her two best friends Elena and Caroline.   • Mundane by LiLaAir: Bonnie is living in Portland with her mother. She still has a strong connection to her Mystic Falls life and has created a good way to combine the two worlds. Until she meets Kai Parker, a boy from her school that has quiet a raputation. Bonnie is struggling to keep her life the way she used to handle it. Why does he have such an impact on her? All human and other characters.

  • Phesmathos Liga by imlittleredbird: 

    Kai has a problem. You see, he can’t help but accidentally siphon Bonnie’s magic whenever he’s turned on and they’re having sex. So, Bonnie ties his hands behind his back and rides him. Bonkai. Rated M for many reasons, I warned you.

Klonnie:

    These little trysts had started not too long ago. She thinks maybe it had only been about a week or so since they’d begun. She’s not really all that sure. It was all one big blur.

This is a chose your own adventure fic than can end in almost any pairing you wanting it to you just have to pick the right path. 

  • Tangled Like Old String by summerstrom: 

    Bonnie’s a good way past tipsy, so Caroline figures it’s now or never and says, “Can we make this a little racier?

I put this under multi-ship mainly because it’s a foursome smut fic between Bonnie, Jeremy, Tyler, and Caroline, but respectively they’re in their canon pairings.

  • Complexity by waitingforyouonce:  One shots and drabbles that feature Bonnie Bennett in a variety of pairings. Will also include pairings from other tv shows.

No pairing:

  • in absence of by thebitterbeast: Bonnie makes a decision, and nothing is the same. 

Bonnie done helping the MFG.  

Basically nuances of Bonnie’s character Plec and Williamson could never convey (granted they never tried). 

Non-Bonnie fics: (but are really good)

This is one of my favorite fics of all time. It’s a fic about the adults of TVD Pre-canon. My favorite chapters are John Gilbert, Jenna Sommers, and Liz Forbes. It brought on pairings I would have never thought of and a whole new light to John Gilbert having to watch his brother raise his daughter. I consider this fic canon it’s that good.

A great character study and includes thing I now consider as canon.

I read this one mostly for Jenna/Mason but I do like persective it brings on Vicki and her relationship with Jeremy.

This one has a great perspective on Caroline and Andy and the Damon of it all. It’s a great read especially for those who were baffled and annoyed by Caroline’s reaction to Delena in S4. 

  • The Sorcerer and His Shadow self by darthpumpkinspice: 

    Stefan is trapped in the coffin and Silas tells him a story: a story of an ambitious man who loved a woman, and the witch that cursed him forever.

This is my beautiful disaster ship Qetsiyah and Silas and boy is is a beautiful disaster. It has small tweaks to canon but boy do they make all the difference.  

  • the conquered by labrynthsend: 

    Century after century, I watched versions of Stefan and Elena find each other like magnets, always the same story – conquering all, falling in love. You didn’t think your brother was Silas’ first shadow?

More of my beautiful disaster. I honestly wish there was more fics with them or that I could write one but I’ve got so many other fics to finish. 

  • Double or Nothing by waitingforyouonce: 

    With Stefan trapped in a watery grave and Bonnie no longer on the earthly plane, Silas’ two biggest obstacles are no longer a problem. Everything has gone according plan, but now Silas has to figure out away to a way to bring back the woman he loves. What will happen when it comes out that Stefan & Bonnie haven’t actually been taken care of. Stefan/Bonnie, Silas/Qetsiyah

This is my beautiful disaster in it’s best for, without Amara. It’s also a great Stefonnie fic. 

My Fics:

  • My Discarded Men: I’d like to tell a little story, that’s been told time and time again, about the foolish men who chase me…Bonnie gives up her “judgy” ways and becomes someone far from her usual self, except didn’t tell anyone. Watch her deceive those closest to her.

Literally my first fic in the fandom, first smut fic, and first Bonnie fic. I haven’t reread it in a while so it’s probably not that great but I do at some point plan to go back to this and finish my original concept. Also warning,it has cheating which I’m realizing is a theme with me, lol. 

  • Life (Sh*t) Happens: 

    Bonnie’s at Whitmore University when her life complicates. Her affair with her college professor ends when her friendship with her best friend is on the rocks all the while having to deal with her annoying never shuts up neighbor who’s cable ran out.

Current fic I’m working on hopefully I can get an update out soon.

  • Outlaws: 

    In the 30s Kai Parker has been exiled from the Gemini coven and is living a life of crime traveling across America leaving a trail of bodies in his wake. Good Behavior Excerpt

It’ll be a while before I officially publish the fic but here’s a little of what I’m working based on this post I made months ago.

“Just like that–it doesn’t matter to you.”

“Nope.”

“Murder, not a single qualm with it?”

“Not a one.”

“Even if they’re good people?”

“Even if they’re good people. We all gotta die sometime. It makes no difference whether it be by me, a car accident, or cancer–they’re still dead in the end.” 

“Wow, I just realized I’m on the road with a complete sociopath.”

“Took you that long? I’ve known you were a kleptomaniac whore the moment you took 50 grand from me.” 

Bonnie slapped him, hard, and Kai smirked in response.

“Never call me a whore again. If I’m a whore you’re the same if not worse for hiring me. Got it.”

“As clear as day.”

“If I’m just a kleptomaniac whore, then why am I here with you? Why didn’t you just kill me?”

“Because you,” he trails off, “intrigue me.”

“Well, that’s not worrisome, at all.”

Vampires, witches, werewolves, hybrids, things had gotten so complicated and in such a short time. Their lives had always been connected peripherally, but now being among one of the few who knew about the supernatural they interacted regularly and got to know each other more than they ever did in 11 years of childhood in just this last year.

Klaus, the original hybrid who was a threat to everything they knew and loved, was finally dead and they all celebrated with a party that had end a half an hour ago and now it was just the who gang gathered up in the Salvatores living room post party basking in the glow of finally feeling safe, or as safe as on could feel with Damon still around, but still for now there were no threats just a bunch of teenagers drunk after a house party.

“Tyler, truth or dare?” Caroline said walking in with a open new bottle of champagne taking a swig from it.

“What are we? In high school?”

“Yes! Finally we’re just high school students for the first time in what feels like forever. Just answer the question Tyler.”

“Fine, truth.”

“Lame.”

“I’m playing the game, you don’t get to criticize my choice.”

“Fine, let me think of a good question.” Caroline looked around at everyone the room and tried to think about what question would yield the best results. When she eyed Bonnie she knew exactly what to ask. “Who was your first?”

Tyler sighed. Damon rolled his eyes at the juvenile question, Stefan looked disinterested, Bonnie rolled her eyes knowing where this was going and Jeremy just looked bored.

Elena snoredt. “Are you sure he even remembers?”

“He should. You never forget your first. Isn’t that right Damon?”

“You got me there blondie.”

“See, so Tyler should remember his first, if the man-whore over there can.”

“Why are you asking a question you already know the answer to Caroline?”

“Because I don’t, I know who you’ve slept with but I don’t know who was the first.”

Tyler rolled his eyes and conceded. “Bonnie.”

“What?” The three girls said simultaneously.

“I told you, you knew the answer.”

“I knew you were Bonnie’s first but I didn’t know she was yours.”

“It was eight grade who else would I have slept with?”

“I don’t know, Vicki?”

“Hey,” Matt chimed in.

“Don’t act surprised.”

“She was still my sister.”

“I know I’m sorry.”

“Wait a minute, you slept with Tyler,” Jeremy said outraged.

“You slept with Vicki,” Bonnie pointed out.

“Yeah, but I didn’t lie about it.”

“And I didn’t lie about this.”

“But you never told me.”

“When would I have told you?”

“Alright, calm down both of you. If you must argue please take it outside where I don’t have to listen to this high school shit,” Damon rudely interrupted.

Tyler looked at Caroline. “You happy now,” he said pointedly to her enjoying himself way too much. Caroline scoffed.

That was the end of their post celebration. Truth or dare had effectively killed the mood and everyone either went to bed or home. It was late and Bonnie was in the kitchen sitting at the counter enjoy the ice cream straight out of the tub.

Tyler walked in. “Hey.”

“Hi,” she said tentatively.

“Hungry too?” he said with a smile.

“What gave it away?”

He didn’t answer her. He raided the cupboards and fridge to find them both sparsely populated. He settled on a bowl of cereal and plopped down next to her.

“So…crazy night.”

“Yeah.” Silence fell between them—the only noise heard was their eating sounds.

“So why did you act like you didn’t know you were my first?”

Bonnie paused mid scoop, “I wasn’t acting.”

“You had to have known I was just as awkward as you.”

“I wasn’t awkward!”

Tyler laughed loudly and Bonnie soon joined. It was a bold face lie and they both knew it.

“Tyler, do even remember what you were like back then?”

“Vaguely.”

“You were arrogant.”

“Don’t spare my feelings or anything?”

“It’s true. You were arrogant and you liked to talk. There were enough rumors going around that I seriously considered someone else because I thought you had herpes or something. And then after you were just as arrogant, so what was I supposed to think?”

Silence fell on them again and they focused on their food. Bonnie decided she was full and put the ice cream back. She was about to leave to the guest room with Jeremy when his words stopped her.

“You know I have to make it up to you right?”

“What?”

“I have to make it up to you.”

“Why do you have to make it up to me.”

“Because I was horrible and I can’t have you thinking I’m bad at sex.”

They both laughed.

“I’m sure you’ve improved since then.”

“But you won’t know until I show you. It won’t be tonight, or the night after that but eventually I will show you I can be better.”

“Good night Tyler.”

Three Years Ago

Looking back on it, Bonnie can say losing her virginity at 14 wasn’t the best idea. She didn’t particularly regret it, but she definitely wasn’t proud of it. Don’t get her wrong, sex can be a beautiful thing, a fun thing, a pleasurable thing, but it definitely wasn’t any of those things when she was 14 and all she could think about was beating Caroline and Elena at something.

Caroline was the first to have a boyfriend, followed by Elena, and then her. Elena was the first to get boobs, followed by Caroline, and then her. Caroline was the first to get her period, followed by Elena, and then her which she quickly realized was a blessing, but still, she was tired of feeling like the late bloomer, so she decided that she was going to be the first to have sex.

It took less effort than she expected it to, getting a boy to sleep with her. She knew she wasn’t ugly by any means, but she wasn’t a smooth talker, and lucky for her Tyler Lockwood didn’t need her to be anything other than direct. All it took was for her to come up to him at one of his infamous parties and say “want to have sex” for him to disown all his friends and take her up to his room.

It didn’t take him long to attack her mouth and roughly grab her boob quickly rushing them over to his king sized bed. Tyler was excited to have sex with any girl let alone Bonnie. She was the prettiest girl in their year, but also the most reserved, so he had no idea when an opportunity like this would arise again. 

He disengaged himself when they reached the end of the bed.

“Should we take off our clothes?” he asked nervously hoping she didn’t back out.

“Um…yeah, sure. And put this on.” She handed him a condom from her pocket. She came prepared.

When they were both completely naked they moved underneath the sheets of his bed with him on top. He looked down at her with an overly excited grin. He had a naked girl underneath him, that had never happened before.

“Can I…can I go in now?”

“Yeah,” she said plainly.

“Alright, brace yourself.”

I am. She thought to herself. From what she heard from others she knew that it was going to hurt, and it did. There was a lot of resistance from her nether region, but that didn’t stop Tyler, he just kept pushing and pushing until he was a far as he could go. Bonnie tried deep breaths but it was too much pain that she had to stop him.

“You want me to get out?” he asked with his voice quaking.

Bonnie shook her head. The thought of him moving even just to get out seemed like it would be just too painful so she had him stay still with his dick inside her.

Though he felt bad that she wasn’t enjoying it as much as he was that didn’t stop the amazing feeling. He tried not to move but his hips went on autopilot moving in and out of her slowly. Bonnie’s face scrunched in pain. He wanted to hold out, tried to hold out until it could get good for her, but the sensation was too good that his hips involuntarily jerked as he released his load in the condom.

“Shit, shit, shit,” he hissed. When his sense came back to him embarrassment filled him as he slowly pulled out and rolled over onto his back. “Sorry.”

“It’s alright.” And she meant it. Though she expected more she was kind of glad he finished, she didn’t know how much longer she could take the pain. Plus she wasn’t expecting it to be perfect, just something to get out of the way and now it was gone. She sat up and motioned to leave.

“You don’t have to go. We could try again this time better.”

She gave him a sympathetic smile. “It’s alright Ty, besides you have a party get back to.” And with that she got dressed and left him to his embarrassment.

When she told Caroline and Elena they were speechless. Sex, while was something they both had thought about, was uncharted territory for them that they both feared. Very few people in their grade had actually had sex and most of it was rumors. So when Bonnie told them both in a very flippant tone that she had sex they were completely dumbfounded.

First, it was Bonnie, they didn’t know how to explain it but she just didn’t do things like that. She was very reserved and careful how she planned things out. Second, she didn’t have a boyfriend, not that they knew of, so they had no idea who she was supposed to have had sex with. And lastly, they were curious about what it was like, especially Elena. Her and Matt had been dating since sixth grade and she felt that they were ready for the next step, but she was too scared to go through with it.

They flooded her with questions which she gladly answered. First question being who.

“TYLER!” they said in unison. He was the oldest boy in their class and though it wasn’t true in the slightest to them that made him the most mature. Bonnie didn’t just pick Tyler randomly, he raised her popularity and was one of the biggest gossips in school so he had already told everyone in school by now. Caroline had heard it through the grapevine but didn’t believe until Bonnie spoke the words herself.

They asked for details but because not much had actually happened she embellished a bit (a lot). Given all the lying she did with the details she wondered why she bothered to go through with it at all, but she guessed that it was for her own peace of mind. It was her goal to make herself feel better, not brag to everyone, and the moment she realized that the better she felt about lying. The real story was for her and only her, well, only her and Tyler. It was a moment they shared which they would remember for the rest of their lives.
