just got to the scene where stefan and damon FLIP A FUCKING COIN to decide who will kill bonnie’s mom to save elena.
I’m so fucking glad one-third of the main trio died violently and the other two had boring mundane lives not even worthy of being shown onscreen (unlike their ultimate deaths ha), all while Bonnie gets to travel the world and live 100+ thanks to her superpowerful magic.
I haven’t watched TVD since season 4 and I have to admit, I’m ashamed I never noticed how toxic and abusive Damon AND Elena were in their entirety; as Individuals and together. And how most of the gang used Bonnie — not giving a flying fuck about her wellbeing and let’s admit: that was like 99.9% of the time (with an exception of 1%, sometimes the writers did succeed and managed to impress me) . It’s kinda messed up because back then I never really paid any mind to Bonnie — not intentionally but because I saw her as how the writers wrote her. (funny enough the writers clearly have plastered over their stupid tiresome foreheads ‘let’s treat our longest living and only poc as a background and a prop for her trash friends except Caroline’
‘let’s not forget to tire her out emotionally and physically cause lol we low key don’t give af about her’).
To make a long story short:
If you writers aren’t going to treat poc with any respect whatsoever and thus treat poc characters like Bonnie as if they’re nothing more than tools please do us all a damn favor and do not put them in your problematic show to begin with, thanks.

I really miss when Chris was on TVD, because even though he played Kai, a literal sociopath, somehow he didn’t receive as much hate from little children who have nothing better to do with their lives then send rude things to a real person over a fictional character that has nothing to do with how a show is written like he is now! I miss the days when Bonnie and Kai had scenes together, and Chris and Kat were doing panels together, I miss the days when Chris was not part of a show with a horrible toxic fandom, when he could go online without seeing horrible things being said about him. I just miss it okay?!!
TVD fandom loved Chris and a lot of just wanted him to do a spin-off with Kat. Chris is a strong person so I think he’ll be ok. I’m still hoping Kat will change her mind in the future and be Bonnie again if they offer her a spin-off. I want a Bonnie and Kai reunion so bad! I just hate how TVD fans are getting dragged into the drama. A lot of us stopped using the Chris Wood tag because of it.
I pretty much would only watch the spin off if Julie Plec and/or Caroline Dries weren’t attached which incidentally I think is pretty much the only way I think Kat would come back to the role. When I was making my survey and doing some research for it I realized how much the writers, specifically those ones, tried to sabotage Bonnie/Kat. Literally the only good things to happen to her character was because they were forced to. They finally upped her wardrobe because Nina was leaving and the focus had to shift to her. She finally got a canon love interest (Enzo) and it’s the most low effort, last minute piece of shit written and the only reason why it’s there is because of Candice’s pregnancy and Steroline couldn’t take front and center like she wanted. In other words, the writers were forced to give her a love interest and was so reluctant that they put no effort in it. Bonnie only became important to the characters in the last three seasons because Nina left and Candice got pregnant and even then she still gets pushed aside as a secondary character. Every good change with her is not only reluctant but half-assed because they couldn’t even let her keep whatever bit of agency she had by declaring she was done sacrifing herself for others (and immediately at that).
I love the idea of a Kai/Bonkai spin off as much as the next person, but the only way anyone can be for it is if the writing issues don’t transfer over and treatment of Bonnie’s character improves by a large margin. As in she’s treated as important as her character actually is and has agency.
Anyways, I hate that Bonnie always has to get fucked over by the racist ass writers. I mean honestly her first most meaningful relationship (outside of her first puppy love with Jeremy, which I miss </3) because thrown under the bus because Bonnie doesn’t deserve Damon. Then when she had this intense, but (scary) chemistry with Kai, that got thrown out the window cause Bonnie doesn’t deserve Kai. Then when Enzo became the love of her life and he gets his heart ripped out. I’m heated cause Bonnie Bennett has put so much on the line, she should be just as happy as her friends so I think this is some straight up BS. Plec, honestly, you really need to work on your writing for POC characters because this shit is so fucking ridiculous.
There’s such an underwhelming amount of Bonnie gifs and edits. There’s even less if your looking for content with just Bonnie and even then it’s usually just a scene where she’s suffering.

So while I was making that survey, as you both saw when it got to the question about her wardrobe I had collages of what she was wearing each season. I found those pictures using Google Image Search, and some from the Wikia, and something I noticed was how hard it was to find stills of just her and what she’s wearing in the earlier seasons until about season 5ish, and then season 6 and 7 was easy, and then it got hard again for season 8.
It’s funny how that pretty much correlated with how the writers treated her wardrobe. They didn’t care about her or what she was wearing until she became a more prominent character (even though she’s one of most pertinent to the plot). I mean I couldn’t even find a still of her in one of her more iconic outfits in season 2, the one she wore the 60s dance. I couldn’t find one of her alone, the only one of her alone I could find is of her dying. The rest either has her with Jeremy, her with Damon, or the one that I used, her with Elena.
Which is truly, absolutely ridiculous. I’m gonna be forever bitter that a show that produced 3 of my fave characters ever was so shitty to all of them, especially Bonnie.

Another thing I noticed was that Season 4 was her worst season wardrobe-wise, which s something I didn’t even notice until looking up the stills. It was the year of bangs(which I actually did like on her) and the year of frumpy sweaters.
I was going to make a post about it but I didn’t want to influence the people taking the survey in any way, but there was a noticeable difference between when the show was trying to make her look frumpy/grief stricken in season 4 as opposed to season 7.
That’s from season 4 and I’m not even sure that’s supposed to be after Jeremy died and she’s supposed to be grieving, but her hair is a mess, her clothes, well let’s just say that’s not working, and her complexion looks a little paler than it should be like she’s sick.
Now compare that to when she’s actually in a mental hospital in season 7
Her hair is done, he complexion is fine and her clothes work, and it’s just a simple shirt and cardigan that the hospital required her to wear. Even the lighting and how the still is framed is better.
These people went out of their way in the earlier seasons to make her look ugly even though either way she’s still very beautiful. It’s so damn irritating.
