Seriously, people need to let TVD go and let Legacies die. It was not a great series because all it’s doing is continuing the legacy of sexism, racism, and misogynor.

It’s funny bc when I started watching tvd Bonnies treatment annoyed me so much that I wanted Kat to leave. Like I could not understand how she stayed on the show but I realised that she was aware of how problematic the writing was but she probably hoped it would change. She was definitely smarter than I thought. And I think it helped her in the long haul, now the shows ended she’s free to do what she wants and she’s getting booked
I think it was a combination of hope and necessity. When the whole boycot happened in 2012 and Plec made her “call of her dogs” she made a post about the adversity she had faced and how poor she was before TVD. It was the most consistent pay check ahe had that allowed her to do other things like pursue music and charities. It also gave her a fan base. She’s grateful for this obviously and says so, but the cost was TVD, and as noted by her attitude now and role choices she’s not going to do that again.
I agree that it was a jealousy thing, fans couldn’t stand anytime Bonnie/Kat got any shine which is why they made up ridiculous reasons as to why Kat was never socialising with the rest of the cast. Plus I always felt that Kat was much more mature despite being the youngest lol. Personally the whole dating your co stars thing seems really unprofessional to me, like y’all are here to ACT. I mean it’s 2018 and people still can’t get over nian.
Like I said the show mentality leaked into real life for everyone except Kat, probably because she wasn’t being treated the same as everyone else and when you experience that your eyes are open to a whole lot more bullshit.
Kat always seemed a lot more mature and lot more classy when it came to her responses, but that’s probably because she has to–she’s always had a lot more on the line than the other cast member. The only one who seemed as mature is probably Trevino, he seemed to stay out of most of the drama as well, but again he had slightly more on the line than the others beside Kat. He is still white passing so he can get away with more, but not much more.
I think it’s obvious that the tvd cast became friends out of convenience because they were on the show together. Because it’s obvious that hardly any of them interact now. Candice/Kayla and Paul and Nina sometimes are the only ones I can think of. But it makes me laugh because people insist that they are such good friends
Well that’s kinda life, being on TVD was probably the adult equivalent of being in high school. You have no one else so you’re friends with who is around, maybe even great friends but in the end everyone goes their separate ways and ends up at most Facebook friends where you mildly keep up with their life but not enough to call them. There are a few you’re still in touch with but for the most part, it’s going to take a reunion for you guys to talk let alone be in the same room.
I get what you mean the guys on tvd were smitten with Kat, and it came across in interviews. But I never realised until you mentioned it that none of the girls really praised her much. I think now the shows over there’s not much of a reason that the cast will keep in touch which makes it all the more obvious that Kat was excluded when they were in the show.
Yeah, from what I can tell she’s talked to no one since the show ended. Bar from that one event where they all were just there it doesn’t seem like she hangs out with any of them. She was supposed to do that con, but she cancelled that. She seems to be distancing herself from that world as much as possible.
Why do you think Kat didn’t spend a lot of time with the girls? At one point she lived with Nina and Candice her words. I think she is closer to her male costar. I also think her ex had a lot to do with it he preferred Los Angeles to Atlanta. She would fly in every weekend and her time off with him:
I honestly don’t know, from the looks of it, it seemed like they specifically excluded her because it wasn’t just Thanksgiving which can easily be explained by her having other plans, it was other activities she was just never apart of but everyone else was.
I really don’t know, I just know it’s weird, it’s like the show mentality leaked into real life.

- She’s really close with Ian.
- She’s really close with Michael as they were on the same set in the very first thing he was in.
- Paul lights up any time she’s around or brought up
- I don’t know how close she is with Steven but if you look at some of their old interviews together he is thirsty af, and she was unfortunately dismissive which made for a really awkward video
- Kat seemed to be the only cast member Chris really liked working with
- Koseph aside JoMo was really eager to work with her going as far as ahip Klaroline only if Kat was playing Caroline
Like I rarely see any kind of love for Kat from the girls while if asked about them Kat will sing all kinds of praises.
Ah okay, I haven’t listened to the podcast but I remember seeing those pictures. It’s funny bc Nina and Candice seemed really close considering there’s so many throwback pictures of them. Yet they’re the only ones who don’t follow each other on social media but still some fans seem to think Kat’s the problem 🙄

The moment that really stood out to me about Kat’s treatment off screen was when Plec posted a picture with only the white actresses from tvd and captioned it something stupid like girl power. Idk it just didn’t sit right with me especially knowing kat was there yet JP couldn’t be bothered to get her and include her. That basically sums up Bonnie/Kat on the show
Basically sums up white feminism which we all know Plec subscribes to.
