What do you think about Kat Graham’s Twitter-gate? It felt a little needlessly harsh for her fans, IMO.

Uh yeah, I would say that seems a little unnecessarily harsh. 

Oh the over-reaction telling this poor girl the truth on a matter that had absolutely nothing to do with her unless she was in fact tagging Kat in posts she’s not in. But even if she was it’s not like Kat called her out specifically, she made it personal, she’s the one who felt like she was owed some praising reaction for “we miss you” even though Kat’s not gone. Kat has done a lot of things since TVD ended and if she missed her she would have watched her recent movies, listened to her recent music, Kat’s not gone, Bonnie is and that’s what that girl misses who honestly seemed kinda like a nut job based on her response to this.

Oh the level of entitlement that could only come from the TVD fandom.

If you want to know the reason for why she tweeted that which I don’t thing she needed to explain in the first place since as someone who frequents her tag there’s nothing more annoying than finding a bunch of irrelevant post and she’s entitled to share that feeling over Twitter a platform for which things like that go, is this: 

Seriously, what’s wrong with a simple request for tagging shit correctly? And if you are tagging shit correctly why are you responding to something that obviously doesn’t apply to you? Kat didn’t blow that out of proportion the twitterverse did by making a mountain out of mole hill.

Kat’s “Twitter Gate”

So this is about the third time in trying to post this thanks to a glitch in Tumblr’s side so this version is going to be a lot more abbreviated.

First thing I’ll say is that I don’t really care about celebrities beyond entertainment value and I especially don’t care about their Twitter beefs so this post is already out of character for me, but the amount of entitlement that could only come from the TVD fandom about Bonnie and Kat is too big for me to ignore.

So I’ll start with the original tweet:

As someone who frequents the Bonnie and Kat tag I feel this 100%. On tumblr there’s a lot of rp stuff which is mangable but then there are those post where she’s tagged simply because she was on the show and the post has absolutely nothing to do with Bonnie or Kat and that shit is annoying. I can only imagine how much more annoying it is on Twitter and in your own tag to be flooded with so much irrelevant spam just to get to something that’s relevant to you. I see no lie in this tweet.

Apparently, and I say apparently because it’s not, this was rude. I don’t see how it’s rude, it’s accurate, and even further, no one is specifically named, or called out, meaning this post is for the people who her statement applies to and those that it doesn’t just need to sit the fuck down.

Next comes the tweet that came from someone who needed to sit the fuck down:

Again, this is apparently rude, which I would classify as rude but honest and not even brutal honesty, just honest because she’s right. But of course no one saw it that way and called her rude and arrogant.

That’s the OP’s response which based off of that she kinda seems like a nut job so I wouldn’t exactly call it a loss in terms of fans. But then there’s the other response who seem to think Kat is owed her something other than the truth.

I’m honestly curious what the fuck asking in a “normal” way is and what tea does he think he’s sipping.

Edit: It’ll be a bit because I apparently reached a post limit even though I’m no where near 250 post, maybe it’s too many photos IDK, something is wonky on Tumblr’s end preventing me from fully finishing this post.

Kat has been thriving since she left TVD. Unlike most of the other cast members she hasn’t disappeared it just done other TVD related things. She’s been in a couple movies, released new music, and was even in the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade. There’s nothing to miss Kat’s not gone, Bonnie is. She’s not being rude or ungrateful she’s just stating facts, and continued to see out facts that no one could answer to…sounds like an all to familiar situation to me. This as basically how she spent yesterday, fielding comments from entitled fans and boy did she come with the responses: 

And I applaud her for not apologizing because she has absolutely no reason to apologize, she had one simple request that wasn’t even aimed at true Kat fans because if they were they wouldn’t be tagging her in shit she’s not in and she did not take shit from nobody.

They all jumped on her and it wasn’t even an unreasonable request. I’ll just let her speak for herself:

She didn’t have to explain herself, she didn’t insult TVD and fans of Bonnie, and she wasn’t rude. The truth of the matter and why everyone is so riled up about her speaking up is actually summed up in this lovely tweet and Kat’s response to it.

This reminds me so much of the fandom treatment of Bonnie where she expresses on little thing and they jump on her and spend most of their time trying to invalidate her feelings because interferes with how they think she should act. Reference this post which doesn’t even scratch the surface of it but gives to a pretty good idea what kind of people we’re working with. The racism in the TVD fandom has been blatant and Kat can finally speak about it truthfully. 

You have no idea how sad and exciting it was to see that last tweet because for years a consistent argument I heard was that if TVD was racist why wouldn’t she speak out about it people apparently don’t understand how binding her contract was and how much everyone would automatically turn on if she had said half he things Paul said during the run of the show. I remember there was a MISQUOTE about Kat not identifying with Bonnie and the entire fandom was flooded with responses exactly like these calling her ungrateful, a bitch and whatever names under the sun for statement that had nothing to do with them and if she had actually said it I wouldn’t have disagreed with her because how can you identify with a character who get’s treated that way?

Kat said something that should have otherwise been arbitrary to most of her fans, but people weren’t content with that wanted her to watch her tone instead of express how she really felt. If this was anyone else from the cast but her they definitely wouldn’t have gone off on her like that let alone started calling it “twitter gate”. People coming out the woodwork just to shit on her as a person proves that, they were just waiting for one misstep meanwhile Ian can trow out his wife’s BC pills without her knowing and no one even came down on him as hard as this.  

This is something that was blown way out of proportion and I would have ignored it if y’all hadn’t been up to your same shit. Kat is not Bonnie Bennett and she does not owe you anything. I know Bonnie’s position on the show may have made you feel otherwise, but know you were never owed anything but entertainment and if you didn’t like don’t watch, don’t flood the actress with a bunch of hate comments because you didn’t get the reaction you wanted.
