The dialog was always the least of my gripes mainly because they just bored me too much to even pay attention. I used to think D/E was the more interesting dynamic but they were boring as well with a side of annoying, and then I stopped watching the show all together. You would think after enduring D/E I would appreciate S/E more but they were just there being boring and bland, but Elena is boring and bland so it’s no surprise that I find both of her ships boring. A ship can really only be as good as it’s characters. I honestly can’t think of a single Elena ship canon or fanon that I found had an interesting dynamic which is why I would have been perfectly fine had the show ended with Elena and Matt, at least they would be in equal footing and there would have been an overall point to keeping Matt around.
