So I’m currently training to be an EMT and yesterday for extra credit I volunteered to help with the Paramedics programs skills day which you spend either practicing to be an EMT in the field or what I did pretended to be one of their patients to practice on. In everyone of these scenarios an IV was need and they actually put them in so I spent most of yesterday getting stuck by needles and having saline injected a in me.

So this morning I checked my arms (the area I was poked) for bruising and not a single one. One of the guys said put pressure on the area at least 60 seconds after to avoid the bruising but I thought that went right out the window when a second IV in the same exact place was done, but no. Which now makes me wonder what the phlebotomist at my doctors was doing wrong because last time I went in for blood work that shit bruised and hurt for days. I was poked and proded by people just learning how to stick and I’m not even sore the next day.
