“What are you thinking? How are you feeling? What have we done to each other? What will we do?”
“We weren’t ourselves when we fell in love, and when we became ourselves – surprise! – we were poison. We complete each other in the nastiest, ugliest possible way.”
“I’m the cunt you married. The only time you liked yourself was when you were trying to be someone this cunt might like. I’m not a quitter, I’m that cunt. I killed for you; who else can say that? You think you’d be happy with a nice Midwestern girl? No way, baby! I’m it.”

You know I thought about this and realized how much has to change to conform to Bonnie. Amy is the epitome of a white woman using her victimhood to her advantage. Bonnie is not white so she would have to conform her plan to fit that because there’s no way she’d get the same amount of news coverage or sympathy from the media that Amy did. That presents a fun challenge and a new theme to explore for this AU. I wish I had the time.
Ugh this is so true! Amy’s plan was contingent on her privelege and wouldn’t have worked the same if was a minority at all, especially a black woman. That would definitely be something to explore in any adaption.
I really want this written now. Gone Girl was already complex on its own but this adds a whole different perspective to it. Although I will note that this is one of the few times where I never thought “this would be more interesting if she was a POC” because it works very specifically because she’s white however fanfiction is about exploring things you can’t find in canon.
I just thought of something else: Silas and Qetsiyah. I’ve always wanted a fic shipping those two but never knew how to execute it. This is literally right up Qetsiyah’s alley, and what Silas did to her with Amara matches Nick almost too well.
I really need to let this go because then I’ll end up writing it and it’ll be 10 years before it’s finished.
the Qetsiyah vs Silas plot has the weird side-effect of getting me to stop hating the main trio’s antics and THAT is the sign of its true power tbh
The only bearable episodes in season 5 all have Qetsiyah, the rest was trash, well even those episodes were trash but Qetsiyah and Silas at least made it interesting trash. After they leave it’s like “who cares” because I sure didn’t.
Qetsiyah x Stefan: ew / nonono / maybe / ship it / aww / otp / MY HEART
When I think about season 5 the only bearable part that I actually like was Qetsiyah, but I especially loved her with Silas, and Stefan. They had a chemistry that could go from charge to sweet and I loved every second of it. In fact it’s only thing I loved, not only from that season, but also from Silas or Stefan. She reignited any feelings I had about Stefan (to clarify it’s not that I didn’t like him before I just didn’t care about him. As a casual viewer he’s a very bland character until he’s with anyone but Elena or Damon) and I only liked Silas when he was in scenes with her.
I ship Qetsiyah and Silas together. They would make such a beautiful, beautiful disaster.
Can you imagine how hot the hate sex would be. They’d be like my OG Bonkai where there’s a constant back and forth with hurting each other. Of course I would leave Amara out if it because she really serves no purpose, Silas is evil enough on his own and Qetsiyah could match him in every way but more because let’s be honest, she always had more power.
Follow up: I just realized just how similar They are to Bonkai. Two people stuck in a different dimension where she’s his key out. She’s adamant about not letting him out and willing to do everything to do so.
Of course they differ in a lot of ways, but I realized that they were essentially Bonkai before we ever knew to even think about such a dynamic.
