Fun Fact:

The first fic I ever wrote for TVD was a tonnie fic because the slow burn fic I was reading was too slow for me so I just wrote plotless smut for them. The fic is now an unfinished multi-chapter that I do plan on finishing, but that first chapter was a one shot for a while.

What makes this fact weird to me is that I was (and still am) a hardcore Bonkai shipper at the time and my secondary ship was Bamon. Tonnie was not really something I thought about in the context of canon until recently but apparently I shipped them all along. I keep saying they snuck up on me but, no, it was always there in the back of my mind.

I can’t get this idea out of my head of how I would have ended the series finale.

So my ideal way to have ended the with what the show gave us in season 8 was for Elena to die. I make it very known that I don’t like Elena but the way to die in the finale would have made her the center of everything which is kinda weird considering that’s one of my main critisms however the ending needs to reflect the show as a whole which is the one thing the TVD writers got right but decided to make a complete mess of it.

So the way I wanted her to die was due to Kai’s spell. Me and a lot of people always found it completely ridiculous since no one lost anything except for maybe Bonnie (however I don’t consider losing Elena much of a loss for her). Basically the spell while Elena was asleep would slowly deteriorate her brain and she would be losing her memories latest to newest which I think is retrograde amnesia but I’m not quite sure. Basically making Damon believe he would ever get her back but she dies Alzheimer’s as soon as she wakes up at the young age of 18 which would be cruel so right up Kai’s alley imo and sufficiently revenge.

Instead of revealing Katherine, Kai would reveal what the spell was actually doing as his last bargaining chip but Bonnie doesn’t use it knowing from past experience how that works out. Thet try to figure out a way to stop it which just accelerates the process which would bring more validity to that “no loopholes” thing that was inconsequential in canon. The rest of the episode would be them spending what little time she has while she still remembers them.

First would be Damon because he’s obviously the first person who’s memories she’d lose first. Then Alaric, and then Stefan. Then whatever order Bonnie, Caroline, Matt, and maybe Tyler (I would definitely have retconned that entire death since it was inconsequential and there was no real way to make it consequential with how much the pushed him into obscurity) since I don’t remember them being that close, in the S6 finale I was quite confused by their scene together. And then end it with Jeremy in a time in head right after their parents died when she was a good sister.

The end of her journey would be her writing in her diary in the exact scene from the pilot except it would be revealed that the reason she started journaling was because she was losing her memories and that the entire show was her recounting her life. She closes the diary fade to black which signifies her death.

For me that was the best way for her to go out because it would have brought back the Elena every claims to miss from season 1-3 without pissing all over her development from season 4-6 because it would be devastating that she was losing all of it. It’s honestly the only way I would have cared about Elena dying and brought meaning back to her character for me especially with the “damsel in distress” quota they had for her. This ending would have best worked for the end of season 6, but could have worked for season 8 as well, a do over.

If that was the end of season 6 it would cut to the rest of the characters lives in how they were moving on and that would be season 7-8.

If that were the end of season 8 right after the fade to black on Elena everything would light up to Bonnie heavily pregnant in a brightly colored nursery. I’m well aware that women’s lives aren’t incomplete because they don’t have a baby, but it always bothered me that the Bennett line was basically wiped out except for Bonnie and to a degree Abby. Which brings me to the next thing that would be revealed which is Tyler walking into the room and it being revealed that they were married. It also bothered me that they completely wiped out the Lockwoods to the point that none of them including Tyler were alive. This would seem kinda random but it made sense to me that they would be the two to leave Mystic Falls and never want to come back, my version just has the reconnecting at some point. Ideally I would want Kai but plot-wise not enough time develop that at that point plus Bonkai isn’t my fluffy pairing for Bonnie, Tonnie is. Monnie is a close second but the fact that Plec almost made them canon vetos the endgame for me.

After that they have a sweet moment and she goes into labor and they rush to the hospital. Tyler would call Matt which would be him as a sherrif just like in canon. Bonnie would call Caroline to tell her which would cut to a scene of her, Alaric, and the twins who would be older (like age 8-12). They would then call Damon who would be at Elena’s grave because its the anniversary of her death and he’d be sober. Basically he would have learned to live with out her without being self-destructive or just destructive in general. He would end up alone and Elena and eventually his brother because I would actually keep him getting the cure just minus idiotic suicide.

Damon would tell her something about what’s he’s been up to and the others and then Stefan would go to him and he would have a few words with her grave before telling Damon about Bonnie and Tyler.

The end scene would be everyone at the visiting Bonnie and Tyler and their new baby hours later because they live far away from Mystic Falls. They would give their baby, which would be a boy because there’s a lot of girls born, it’s own name because they don’t want the ghosts of all the people they’ve lost on this one baby, basically starting anew. The last name would be Bennett Lockwood because like I said their line completely wiped out. A moment of silence for Elena and then basically everyone gathered together to celebrate Bonnie and Tyler’s happiness.

The End. Everyone Live HEA, except Damon which is how it should be.

That’s how I would have salvaged the train wreck that was the finale. It’s not perfect but to me that’s what would have been the most satisfying.

The Witch and the Werewolf

I swear to you I won’t stop until your legs are shaking and the neighbors know my name.”

The full moon was a charged time for both werewolf and witches alike. For witches it was a time to seek the truth and for werewolves it was the time when their true selves would be revealed.

Neither Bonnie nor Tyler saw the connection until the blood moon they crossed paths.

Tyler knew without a doubt that Bonnie was one of the most beautiful women he’d ever come across. There was always something so ethereal about her that he couldn’t help but look. However, he knew he could never go there with her. He didn’t want to screw things up between them in the only way that he could screw them up. He knew he had anger issues, that he was a jerk and an entitled douche, and that that would only taint the most beauty he had ever come across.

But his wolf didn’t care. From the moment he triggered his wolf he had to restrain himself. Mate, mate, mate. Mine, mine, mine, would run through his head like a mantra. But she wasn’t his, she didn’t want him, and he wasn’t that guy anymore and his wolf needed to learn that. He was in control, or he was until the night of the blood moon.

She needed answers. She felt so alone, so needed but with no idea what to do. She didn’t want her friends to die, but she also didn’t want to help them cause more destruction. It was times like these she wished her Grams was still alive, but she wasn’t that’s why she was here in her backyard during the blood moon casting a spell that would hopefully clear everything up and give her the answers she needed.

He thought he could make it in time. Chain himself up in the cellar but he got distracted. He knew the smell and he knew he needed to avoid it, and he thought he was until he followed the scent all the way to an empty yard–empty, except for Bonnie in a nightgown hovering over what looked to be a bunch of leaves on fire. She was in deep concentration reciting words in a language he didn’t understand. She looked beautiful while doing magic and he didn’t want her to stop, but she did. She looked disappointed like she was expecting more, but then she saw him and her disappointment turned to confusion.

“Tyler?"

He doesn’t answer back instead he stepped closer to her making himself visible in the red moonlight.

"What are you doing out here?” Questions flooded her mind, but the one that stuck out the most—her safety. It was the night of the lunar eclipse, but still, a full moon and she didn’t want to be ripped to shreds.

“I don’t know. Something drew me here.” He walked to her until they were a few inches apart.

She took a deep breath and looked up at him. “Something…” She trailed off, their closeness getting to her.

“Yeah, something,” he said robotically mesmerized by her eyes. He trailed his finger along her face gently. She got lost in the feeling.

The wind picked up blowing a cold breeze between them and broke her out of her trance. She stepped back from him. “We can’t,” she shouted.

“Why not?” His trance had not broken.

"Because I don’t want to get hurt,“ she said stoically.

That broke it. "I would never hurt you."

She turned her head away from him. "Bonnie look at me,” He demanded gently as he closed the distance between them again. He cupped her face and looked into her eyes. “I would never hurt you, ever."

She gets sucked in again and she doesn’t know why. All logic and reason were telling her to run, but her intuition was saying stay. She leaned forward on her tippy toes to kiss him. He closed the distance immediately lifting her up. She wrapped her legs around him.

The moment his lips touched hers she felt a rush of arousal flood her body. It was a very unfamiliar feeling that her mind did not know what to do with so she let her body take over. Her body seemed to know exactly what to do–which stroke to take with her tongue, how to move her hips to elicit the best feeling, but mostly how to let go–of all the fear and all the worry–her body and mind were with Tyler and only Tyler.

He walked them over to the old willow tree in her yard. Her back stung when the bark scraped her back, but she didn’t care because Tyler latched his mouth to her nipple through the fabric of her nightgown. She responded with a loud moan but that didn’t compare to the growls coming from Tyler. He sounded so feral which wasn’t a word she’d ever thought she’d associate with sexy but it did. He was wild, untamed and taking it out on her in the best way possible. Her hips doubled their effort to get to that sweet end but were stilled by Tyler’s hands.

“Stop,” he rasped out, mostly to himself. She looked at him annoyed with their sudden halt.

“Do you he even want this?” he said in strained.

“Of course,” she said moving to kiss her but he turned his head away.

“Really, do you want this.” He needed to know. He wasn’t sure who was in control right now and he needed to at least know one thing–that she wanted it, really.

“Tyler, if I didn’t want this I would have set your ass on fire the moment you got into my personal space. Now less talking, more kissing.” She pulled his face to hers and he gladly resumes their activities.

The feeling of her body against his was amazing–every little thing almost set him off. He was usually always horny around this time of the month but it had never reached this level. He knew it was her–she was the reason he felt like this–she always had that power.

He bunched up her nightgown and rubbed his hand over her underwear. He felt the wetness through them and pushed them to the side. He started slowly–he wanted to drag it out before He took over. He lightly brushed her clit and she jolted scraping her back against the bark. He moved his hand in nice, small consentient circles just how she liked. Her head fell back letting him take over just enjoying what he was giving her, but she knew if he didn’t move things along soon she was going to take over for him.

His hands and hips got more persistent pushing them both farther onto the tree. His fingers were penetrating with his thumb continuing the circles. His face was buried in her neck sucking her pulse. For a moment she thought he was going to bite her and if he did she wouldn’t care one iota–it was adding to the pleasure. She felt tiny contractions in her pussy–murmurs before the orgasm could completely take over. When it did all she could hear was Tyler growling into her ear dropping her legs and sliding his face down her body nipping along the way.

When his mouth latched on to her clit it was almost too much, but instead of pushing him away she grabbed onto his hair and pushed him further into her pussy.

She smelled delicious and tasted even better–like she was his. He slowly licked his way to her hole and lavished that with attention before making his way back to her clit. He replaced his tongue with his fingers and curled them stimulating her g-spot. He spelled the word “mine” with his tongue and when he finished with the “e” she came suffocating him between her legs. When her grip loosened he pulled her to the ground and flipped her over so that she was on her hands an knees riping open her panties splitting them in half. He pulled his basketball shorts down and rubbed his dick between her lips.

He bent over and whispered in her ear, “I swear to you I won’t stop until your legs are shaking and the neighbors know my name.” She moaned biting her lip.

He thrust in her and a desperate, filthy noise left her mouth. Her pussy conformed to his dick and for the first time since he triggered his wolf, he felt like he was home. He pulled his hips back pulling almost completely out before he pushed back in, hard. She moaned his name.

He continued he slow strokes until his tolerance ended. He was fucking at her hard and fast making low, rough growls that were drowned out by her guttural moans. He felt so good in her–turning her body into jelly. It wasn’t long before he was fucking her into the ground with her ass in the air. Everything between them felt instinctual, he knew exactly what spots to hit, spots she didn’t know existed. When she came it hit her like a surprise and when he fucked her through her orgasm everything turned to 11. She blacked out and when she came to her was above her fucking her with her legs on his shoulders.

"Mine, oh fuck mine.” He became animalistic as his eyes turned lupine, his teeth went sharp, and his nails grew thick and long. His eyes were yellow–he couldn’t see it, but he knew, he was going to have to cut this short but he couldn’t leave the pleasure of her womb.

Mate, mate, mate, mine, mine, mine, mine. The mantra was in his head. He knew he was going to cum.

“I going to cum,” he said labored trying to control himself. Bonnie’s only response was a moan.

Her eyes were closed and he could tell she was somewhere else getting lost in their pleasure. He dropped one leg from his shoulder took her face in his hand. “Look at me,” he said more aggressively than he intended.

She opened her eyes and when she saw the yellow her mind and body were once again warring. Her mind knew that wasn’t good, that at any moment he could rip her into pieces but her body trusted him, encouraged her to go with it by bucking her hips into him. She pulled him into a rough passionate kiss and her mind was at ease.

Tyler broke from her, “I need you to say it.” His control was quickly slipping.

“Say what?”

“That you’re mine.”

“I’m yours,” she said without hesitation. “I’m all yours.”

 He let go.

He thrust in her a few more times and bit down on the juncture between her neck and shoulder, hard, before he pushed himself as deep as he could go and came.

She screamed not in pain but pleasure. Every nerve in her body was on overdrive flooded with pleasure. It was the most intense orgasm she had ever experienced and it just kept going. His bite triggered something in her that she never wanted to stop, but it did and when she got her senses back she wasn’t disappointed. Tyler, in his near wolf form, was looking at her a way no man had ever and it brought her comfort that she had long been deprived of.

She was his. From that moment on he knew he would be there for her whenever she needed him, protect her from all danger, but most of all, protect her from herself. He sealed his silent promise with a kiss.

How do you hate Damon for raping Caroline but love Tyler who literally would have raped Vikki had Jeremy not intervened? Tyler also verbally abused Caroline just like Damon and is an overall douchebag like how do you defend Tyler?

dontbeallupinmyfriesdawg:

I’ve never defended Tyler’s actions toward Vicki. The only thing I can say about Tyler’s actions toward a certain point is that he may have acted a certain way because of his untriggered werewolf curse, that’s not an excuse by any means and that scene with Vicki was unacceptable but I think the main difference between Damon and Tyler is that Tyler has growth throughout his time on the show.

Damon is trash consistently all throughout the show, not only does Tyler change his behaviour he also goes out of the way to right wrongs and apologises when he has hurt people.

Also, do you have specific examples of he’s verbally abused Caroline?

I’d like to add to that.

Tyler not only changes but immediately when he sets the goal, and even better the goal isn’t just to impress the girl, he changes because he sees his behavior as a problem that needs changing while Damon just sees it as an obstacle between him and Elena.

Tyler goes from this in the pilot:

Which is completely inexcusable and one of the many reason he’s set up for you to hate him. To this in 2×04 which I will break down because it’s such a small forgotten moment but shows so much progress (more than Damon did in 8 seasons):

First he stops which is already a massive improvement from how he was in the pilot, but that’s a low bar especially due to the very unhappy look on his face.

He’s clearly angry which isn’t a great sign and if he had been who he was in the pilot we know where this is going to go, but it doesn’t.

She tells him something that he doesn’t want to hear which is like a bucket of cold water and instead of anger he just looks mildly rejected.

And not only that, he leaves it at that and lets her leave. Again this is one of those low bars because every man should do this, but he wasn’t one of them, he was the guy who had to have his girlfriend push him off of her and to go from that to this is a major improvement and worth noting because change is progressive and this is something he does immediately after he makes the goal to change which is why it’s a small gesture.

Another thing worth noting, Caroline isn’t in the picture a this point meaning this is something he does completely by himself, motivated by himself. He didn’t need the “love of a good woman” to change. This a low bar but it’s a low bar set by the writers of TVD because after Caroline, Damon doesn’t stop that type of behavior, it just continues to get worse the more and more it’s condoned. Tyler’s behavior is never condoned, not by the audience, not by the show, and most of all not by Tyler. He knows what he did was wrong, feels that it was wrong, and never does it again, and bonus points there are actual consequences,  as opposed to Damon skips step two and three–that’s why people forgive Tyler and criticize Damon, not to mention the fact that Tyler didn’t actually rape Vicki, sexual assault/harassment, yes, rape no, and it’s not hidden under the umbrella of “I’m a vampire” that has people denying what he did.

I’d also like to point out that never once does Tyler verbally abuse Caroline. Getting mad at someone and then stating feeling on how they upset you is not the same as verbal abuse. His words aren’t used to tear her down, manipulate her, or even hurt, they’re used to express himself just like Caroline does when she’s mad at him. He has a right to his feelings just like anyone else and to frame that as abuse just because his feelings aren’t all sunshine and rainbows toward your favorite character is disingenuous.  Damon telling Caroline she’s stupid, shallow, and useless isn’t the same as Tyler telling her to leave him alone and that she doesn’t get it.

Tyler Lockwood for the meme

How I feel about this character:

  • Love him. He’s one of the most well rounded characters and has the most development of all of them. He goes from an complete asshole and near rapist to a loyal, loving, caring person I could respect, and did the transformation in an entirely convincing way. He is the redemption arc the writers wished the “anti-heroes” of the show had and yet they took no notes from it.

All the people I ship romantically with this character:

  • Bonnie: I think I ship him with her most right now. This is a ship I most ship due to fanfiction but fanfic is making me realize how compatible they would be. I already headcanon that they lost their virginity together, but there was a whole lot more they could have done with them. First they’re the only of their kind that’s a main character, they’re the only POC’S and as such they’re the worst treated characters, and they’re both very loyal and understand that the stakes are higher than Mystic Falls (Tyler moreso than Bonnie). They have so man parallels it’s ridiculous, I have a post in my drafts that notes them and when I’m finished I will post it. Secondly, this is more of a symptom of fanfic, but they’re so adorable together especially added with the fact that they’ve known each other they’re whole lives and it plays out so well in fanfic and would have played out really well in the show. And lastly, it’s one of those many, many ships that we were robbed of due to Plec’s racism, so not getting them makes me want them even more.
  • Caroline: Despite the fact that Tyler gets paired with her because Plec didn’t want him with Bonnie, and despite the fact that she’s the reason he has his screen time cut, Forewood was quite cute together. 4×06 has soured a lot of my initial feelings about them together but in the long run they were cute together in the time they had.
  • Jeremy: I mildly ship this one, I do wish they wouldn’t have stopped their screen time together but something bothers about the idea that they only reason Jeremy cares about him is because he has a crush on him and vise versa. This one that I can’t quite separate the TVD writing with the ship because I know that’s exactly how Plec would play it out and then both characters would have ended up dead by the end of the season. But separating the ship from the writing it could have been great and added more depth to Tyler’s character, but I never felt he was missing much depth. He’s the character they unknowingly gave the most depth and then ignored. All in all it’s a solid ship for him.

My non-romantic OTP for this character

  • Matt: Face it, he was a good friend to Tyler despite Tyler not being the best friend back to him, which does change, and he’s the only one to show any emotions at his funeral. He’s also always there to make him feel better when he’s seriously down and Tyler gave him his house. I can’t discount aby of that, Matt is Tyler’s best friend.
  • Jeremy: He’s on here again, but I guess that’s because I like them more as friends. I like it when romance isn’t the driving factor for two characters to interact which is probably why I latched on to them more as friends when I watched the show before they completely dropped them all together
  • Bonnie: I’m putting her on here again because with how much they have in common added with growing up together I find it ridiculous that they aren’t at the very least friends. She brought him back from the dead for Christ sake they should have definitely been on more friendly terms (and he should have at least thanked her for it).

My unpopular opinion about this character

  • He is the worst treated male character on the show which doesn’t sound that unpopular, but most people think that Stefan is the worst treated because he lost Elena, or Matt because he’s against vampires, or Jeremy because he’s compelled to forget a lot. Tyler was the worst treated male and Bonnie was the worst treated female which isn’t surprising since they’re both POC’s. He’s shoved off screen for unnecessary amounts of time, has his major developments with his werewolfism??? developed off screen and is put through the most physical pain compared to not only the the other male characters, but as a werewolf. When you see the other werewolves turn they are never in as much pain as Tyler was. His treatment as a character almost completely mirrors Bonnie’s the only difference is that it’s to a much lesser degree and on some level it can be seen as retribution for his behavior in season 1 where Bonnie never did anything to deserve that. However that brings up another issue which is why is he the only one to have to pay and in such a violent manner, but let’s not go down that rabbit hole.
  • He was more important to the plot than Caroline. That one actually is objectively an unpopular opinion especially with how beloved Caroline is. But I’ve pointed it out before, Caroline is a run of the mill vampire in a show filled with vampires and Tyler is the sole werewolf on a show that just kills them off like they’re nothing. He could have easily been who they explore werewolves and they’re lore through, but they brought on Hayley and chose to explore it on another show. Although note something: Tyler doesn’t spend that much time as a werewolf–he triggers it at the beginning of S2 and is a hybrid by the beginning of S3–and when he becomes a hybrid, he becomes one of many, losing what made him unique as a character making him just like everyone else because the Hybrids were mostly enhanced vampire in the way that vampires were just enhanced human. I could theorize that that was the first step in tearing down his character, but we don’t have that kind of time.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

  • There are a lot of things I wish for this character but I guess if I’m going to narrow it down to one it would be for him to have never been a Hybrid. That’s when he completely loses his agency and becomes a slave to Klaus, that’s when the show started shoving him off screen more, but only to facilitate Klaroline, and that’s when his story stops being his own and he’s just lumped together with the rest of the MFG and is expected to follow along with them. If he’d have stayed a werewolf, I have no doubt that his screen time still would have been cut, but it would have given way to explore werewolves and the Lockwood’s more because much like Bonnie there’s a bit a mystery there with Tyler and how little was known about the curse. (But make it known thee’s A LOT MORE not known about the Bennett’s and more potential there.) Tyler staying a werewolf left a lot more potential for his character and would have screwed him over waay less just due to not being a slave alone, but in a lot more ways.

fandomonium24:

I’m so sick of people saying that Forwood should have been endgame and that Steroline isn’t endgame material. You want to know why Caroline didn’t end up with Tyler? Because he walked out on her. Multiple times. She gave him so many chances and he always hurt her in the end. I’m not saying they had a bad relationship or that I didn’t ship them. But I AM saying that Tyler chose revenge over her. You wanna know who has always been there for her? Stefan. When she was at her lowest, he was there to comfort and protect her. Even when he left her, he came back and fought for her. He never judged her for sleeping with Klaus. He understood her and stood by her. Stefan Salvatore is the love of Caroline Forbes’ life and nothing can change that.

Now, does that mean I don’t want her to end up with Klaus? No. If Klaus makes her happy, I’m 100% for it because the love of her life is already dead. He’s gone and he would want her to find happiness again, even if it’s with someone else. Both Klaus and Caroline have lost their soulmates in my opinion, since both Cami and Stefan are dead. If they have to live an eternity without the loves of their lives, they might as well be together.

Imagine this:

You become this arrogant prick with daddy issues’ slave and they cite their daddy issues as their right to enslave you. They now have complete control over what you can and can not do. You then break away from this slavery and realize that there are other slaves who’s lives are being just like yours was so you help free them which is a long grueling process that involves complete trust so naturally they become you friends, family even.

Meanwhile you have a girlfriend who you love and trust who has been there for you through the hardest times and was there when you were going through this grueling process. She’s not just your girlfriend, she’s family. So you tell her everything expecting her of all people to understand. But she doesn’t, in fact she thinks that her friends are more important than yours and that you should think the same so that when she breaks your trust by telling her friend about what your doing and gets your friend killed she doesn’t understand why you’re upset.

But you let it go because you have more important thing to think about like your other friends who you’ve freed from slavery, but you’re still apprehensive about what you can and cannot tell her, so you trust the wrong person. When you do finally trust your girlfriend enough you enlist her to help you but unfortunately this wrong person you trusted ruins everything. This person then tells your ex-slave-owner that you freed all his slaves and he then kills each and every one of them, and for good measure kills your mother. He then banishes you from your own home for even daring to take his property away and you have no choice but to comply.

Then when ex-slave-owner decides not to be petty for a day he says you can come back and though this is good new you realize you’re back where you started as his slave because you can only be where he says you can be, you no longer have control over your life so you leave again to get control back and vengeance for all taking everything away from you. You break up with your girlfriend because it’s unfair to make her wait for you while you do more important stuff and it’s not like she can come with you–she isn’t living under someone else’s rule so she doesn’t feel the need to go with you.

Anyway, fuck Tyler for leaving, it’s not like he had any valid reason–his life should only revolve around Caroline and he should be under Klaus’ thumb. And fuck him for judging her for sleeping with the guy who enslaved him, killed his pack and his mother. It’s not like she was his friend or anything, so it’s not like any of that should matter to her. He’s out of sight so he’s out of her mind. How can he not understand that? What an asshole. Caroline is is a sexually vibrant woman and that’s exactly what he’s judging her for. Go Caroline, fuck Tyler for not getting that. *In case you didn’t understand, that was sarcasm.*

On a more real note I don’t actually think Forwood should be endgame but for none of the reasons you cited. Your entire anti argument relies on demonizing Tyler in order to make Caroline seem innocent and none of the actual fundamental issues with them. Is Tyler innocent? No, but in the examples you brought up yes, because you’re comparing his revenge to her missing her boyfriend and then sleeping with his arc nemesis because she got lonely. They aren’t comparable experiences in the slightest.

The reason Forwood shouldn’t have gotten back together is because of 4×06, the moment Caroline stops understanding Tyler. From there on their relationship deteriorates for that exact reason and then the nail in the coffin–her sleeping with Klaus. Not only does she no longer understand Tyler but she doesn’t respect him, and you can’t rebuild a relationship from there especially if it lacks respect. Also added with her lack of emotion when he died whatever was once there was definitely lost by that point.

As for Steroline I’m actually pretty neutral on that. While I do believe that they functioned better as friends I do believe that there was potential to be a good romance had Plec not tried to insta-love a friends to lovers romance and dropped the whole “epic love” thing because it never worked in creating an actual epic love story. There was nothing epic about any of the romances on the show because it all relied on being told they were epic rather than actually being epic. However, feelings aside, again, you’re bringing up two things that aren’t comparable.

For one, Klaus didn’t treat Stefan the way that he treated Tyler, Stefan wasnt his slave, Klaus didn’t kill his mother, Klaus didn’t take everything away from him, so Stefan doesn’t have to “get over himself” not to judge her. In fact when you compare Stefan’s summer with Klaus to Tyler’s time sired to him, not only was Stefan treated with more respect and consideration, he had a lot more agency. Stefan had the ability to refuse and he used it strategically and got away without punishment; Tyler did not. Tyler had to do it whether he refused or not–he had absolutely no control of his actions. Comparing those two experiences and then reducing them down to Caroline is actually a diservice to both characters and their traumatic experiences, but worse because you’ve taken the context completely out of it which makes sense if you’re trying to frame one character as an angel and the other as the devil incarnate.

Secondly, Tyler doesn’t even judge her, he gets understandably mad at her for violating his trust and tells her to get away from him. However he does eventually forgive her because they were on some pretty amicable terms when he died. He attended her baby shower for Gods sake so lets not act like that’s something he held over her head for the rest of his life, nor that she had nothing to be forgiven for because let’s get one thing clear, he didn’t care that she had sex with someone else. You didn’t see him get mad or jealous about Jessie. He got mad because after having Klaus take everything away from him and her witnessing it she slept with Klaus. He’s not judging her for having sex nor does he even bring up the word slut or whore or anything derogatory in his anger. But sure, he judged and slut shamed her 😒. It’s not like he has a right to his own feelings, that’s a courtesy only Caroline should be given because she has done no wrong, it was all Tyler’s fault.

Thirdly, not only was Stefan there when she was at her lowest, so was Tyler, she’s had many low moments and will continue to have many more as it’s a part of life and she has a long one ahead of her, and many different people are going to be there to comfort her, so that’s not really even a point in either corner since it’s not a unique factor. She has never actually been a character who has been alone. Her “only being a love interest” has never been a character flaw in her because she was never a character who only existed within her love interests. It’s actually the opposite, her love interests tend to be the props the ones that only exist within the context of her.

Take Tyler for example he is a character the writers only ever ared about within the context of her. If his storyline didn’t coincide with hers he was either gone from the show or tacked on to storyline that could have functioned without him. Me and @leianaberrie once discussed it in this post, that he wouldn’t have gotten a developed storyline if he wasn’t Caroline’s boyfriend and it’s true as evidenced by what his character is reduced to seasons 5-8. In a technical sense he has more to offer the plot as the sole werewolf than Caroline, a run of the mill vampire on a show filled with vampires, but she gets most of the focus and actually almost gets the same amount of focus as the main trio but yet has less to offer. And Matt, not more relevant than Caroline but it worth noting that the only time people were really all that invested in him was when he was dating Caroline because they wanted to see more of Caroline’s vulnerable side which was first showcased with him.

Anyway, my point is that Caroline has never really been alone, she’s always had someone there for her whether it be Stefan, Tyler, Matt, her mom, Bonnie, and even sometimes Elena, so saying he was there for her when Tyler wasn’t, well so were all these people who were there for her when Stefan wasn’t. Again comparing one to the other without context (although in this case neither have context) is proving to be a logical fallicy.

Lastly, take this out of the Tyler tag, no one there wants to see it. It would be better suited in the anti-tyler tag, you’ll find the responses a lot more positive there.

OH MY GOD!!! I was watching the Originals and when Tyler kidnaps Hayley she calls him a backstabbing piece of shit!!!!!!!

backstabbing piece of shit.

BACKSTABBING piece of shit !!!!

BACKSTABBING !!!!!

ARE YOU KIDDING ME, HAYLEY?

It still gets me everytime that sacrificial murder seemed easier to her than hiring a P.I. And it gets me even more how the fandom protects her and ignores the fact that she got 12 hybrids killed simply because she got pregnant, but even more so at the expense of Tyler. Do they not remember that she got his pack and mom killed? Because trust me that’s not something that a convoluted magic baby plot can just absolve. However it’s telling how much people can minimalize what he went through and how people need to minimalize it just to make her seem innocent.

But none of that’s new because they do the same thing to him with Caroline. You have no idea how many times I’ve read “he was horrible to Caroline”. How exactly? He was honest, loyal, and faithful to her right to the very end, her not so much.
