I needed this to happen.

Bonnie walking down the street, her thoughts on Cade or whatever and her steps slow down as she sees a blast from the past… And Kai sheepishly waves “oh hey there” like he hasn’t been all over town trying to find her since he got back to Mystic Falls.

Reblogging again just for this comment.

Probably over a year now I’ve been working on like a oneshot/4-5 part 813-814 AU called Lifeforms. It’s essentially that but in the AU Bonnie and Kai had sex in 6×21 and Bonkai baby that would contrast Caroline’s forced pregnancy and a son that would contrast Jo’s siphoning twins with being able to produce his own magic.

Essentially the AU would involve Kai stopping at nothing to get to Bonnie and his kid as opposed to the irrelevance he spent in canon. Anyway one day I hope to get it up but right now I’ve got so many plans for it it’ll be a while before I can execute those plans.

Whooo, you already got me hyped. For whatever reason, BonKai baby stories intrigue me (I don’t usually care for baby plots) so I’ll be on the look out when your story drops.

I’m actually a fan of baby plots but I’m very peculiar about which ones I like which is why I get why most people aren’t into them. Like they have to have very minimal fluff or else I’m bored, and lots of angst but not to the point that it becomes a pity party or else I’m annoyed and thinking why this character didn’t just get an abortion for everyone’s benefit.

Baby plots can be very compelling but also just as easily can ruin a story because it in it of itself isn’t compelling or what should be driving the plot–it’s the circumstances around the baby plot that make it compelling.

Anyway if I ever get it out it’s nice to know I have at least one reader.

Yes, this. There’s a fine line and even actual shows mess it up and especially in the supernatural genre, the last thing I’d want is more magical super baby plots (well BonKai babies would be magical but still not at little Jesus levels).

I want the whole picture. Slow burn from enemies to allies to friends to lovers to soul mates type of deal then realistic portrayal of them considering kids or Bonnie/Kai finding out she’s (unintentionally) pregnant. The whole shebang. I wouldn’t want too many jump skips (like oh, they hate each other but now they don’t and here’s the HEA with a baby but showing nothing or hardly anything in between), but because of this, the story would be really long and involved and I understand that’s a heavy task for most writers especially when they have their lives to live. Anyway, I went on a tangent – I’m looking forward to your story regardless. 😂

It’s funny at this point in canon Bonkai babies would have to be at Jesus levels due to Hope and the Twins because surely Bonnie and Kai’s genetics are more powerful than Hope and the Twins combined, but I get what you mean the babies in shows and fics are usually there as magic fix its.

Like Hope is Klaus’ “redemption” and Hayley’s reset button to all the bad she’s done. The twins were literally magic fix its similar to Bonnie but also there to make Caroline and Alaric relevant–neither of them are relevant outside of the twins and that’s not compelling in that of itself.

I don’t mind time jumps just as long as they arent leaps in logic. That was TVD’s main issue in season 7. I was actually a fan of the time jump format it was more mature and gave me hope for better storytelling UNTIL I realized the format was too mature for Plec’s juvenile writing skills. It’s like she didn’t realize that she need the entire story written out from beginning to end before jumbling the order which is why she needed a flashback episode to explain her 3 years later time jump (that still explained fuck all).

There’s ways to have time jumps and even have it be a slow burn you just have to make sure everything written counts and is pertinent to the plot. Which is kinda what I have planned as it’s broken up into parts that aren’t in chronological order.

Thank you sasaurus (thesaurus). I know it’s late and my vocabulary sucks but we have to finish this now because you know we won’t come back to this for another month.
