AU Post 6×16: After the night in the nightclub, Bonnie drops everything and skips town. But, even months later, some people can’t seem to leave well enough alone.
I’m not even a huge Bonnie fan, but this kind of confessions are getting really annoying and stupid. Bonnie is a witch. Witches don’t really like vampires cause they are “abominations”. Maybe at first Bonnie wasn’t such a fan of them because she only saw monsters. Caroline killed that innocent man, Damon turned Vicki and killed so many people, Stefan was a ripper! But she saves theirs and everyone elses asses every freakin episode. That means she cares about them. She could free the whole world of vampires by killing Klaus, but she didn’t. Cause she cares about Caroline, Stefan, Elena and even Damon. So stop whining, complaining and hating because at some point she refused to help vampires. She repaid that “mistake” hundred times by now.
1: if you ‘strongly dislike’ a character, you don’t track their tag.
2. if you don’t track their tag, you won’t see everything said about them, including, but not limited to, character bashing/hate.
Add 1+2, and maybe the great mystery as to why we claim Bonnie gets so much hate when you yourself ‘have barely seen any’ will magically unravel.
Regarding the rest of this nonsense confession: Bonnie fans are well aware that Bonnie is flawed. Every character on this show is flawed – in fact, most of them have more flaws than they do attributes and border on serial killer status – however, for some reason, they get nowhere near the amount of ‘OMGGG CAN SOMEONE KILL THIS CHARACTER PLEAZZZEEE’s that Bonnie does. You’d seriously think she was going around killing people and putting her loved ones in danger – oh, wait! Silly me, that’s everyone else.
Point is, Bonnie’s flaws are almost NEVER what she gets hate for; she usually gets bashed for all the things that make her kickass and wonderful. Thus, we react. I’d really love to hear your reasons for strongly disliking her, because I can understand someone logically frowning upon the way she’s handled a few things. I can’t, however, see anyone who’s taken the time out to really think about Bonnie and what she grapples with every day and what she’s given up that she, unlike Caroline who had no choice in turning into a vampire and Elena who lost everything not because she gave it up but because it was forcibly taken from her, was in no way obligated to give up. People seem to forget that Bonnie made the choice to sacrifice herself and her life for her friends, that she could’ve done what 99.99% of people would’ve done in her situation and run away from it all. Her devotion to her friends is slave-like and has forced her to abandon pretty much every moral standard she’s ever had, re: hating vampires and murderers and manipulation and evil. So go on and wrinkle your nose at the way she reacted to Caroline turning into a vampire (also known as Caroline murdering a human freakin’ being), harrumph all you want about her reluctance to choose a bunch of vampires over the innocent people of Mystic Falls with the Gilbert device, and scoff the day away at insert-trite-reason-here-for-hating-the-strongest-female-character-on-the-show, but ‘strongly disliking her’ in a logical and well-thought-out manner?
That’s not “’bullshit’ or ‘invalid’”. That’s bullshit AND invalid.
