I’m honestly curious what they could do with a second season of 13rw since the gimmick of the show is gone. Although without the gimmick it does have the potential to be better unless they’re going to continue the gimmick just with a different person in which case we’ve officially found something worse and more repetitive than TVD.
my rambles
So I finished season 1 of Heroes
So I’ve made it past season 1 of Heroes which was amazing, and have been kinda iffy about going on because most of the stuff I remember about the show was bad and happened in seasons 2 and 3. I’m two episodes into season 2 and it honestly not that bad. The annoying parts are mostly due to things that I know won’t be explained like DL’s death.
It’s an off screen death as is Nikki’s to a degree. She goes into a fire and just never comes out. There’s no big death moment. At least that’s how I’m remembering it, I’m only 3 episodes in to season 2 and haven’t gotten to that.
All I remember is that they got stifled pretty big in the storyline department. I honestly would have rathered they just disappear from the show all together as a happy family than unexplained and lame deaths. But I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt as this was during the writers strike and a good portion of the things they had planned for the season had to be cut. So bad writing, but bad writing with a reason and still manages to be better than most shows on the CW.
The only other thing I’m having issues with is West. He’s actually quite adorable especially with Claire BUT he legit stalks her outside her window for the first 2 episodes. He’s lucky he’s good looking, not to mention he does the whole “I know exactly who you are” making assumptions about her just so she can prove him wrong and actually be his dream girl. But again, writers strike, I could tell that they wanted them to happen but didn’t know how so just ripped off a lot of generic stuff from Romeo and Juliet. Plus romance was never really Heroes forte.
I remember seeing a question about favorite ships on the show and I literally could not think of one and that’s because the show doesn’t put that much emphasis on ships, in fact it’s a big weak spot because I’ve notice that they drop a romantic storyline with 0 notice and 0 explanation. The biggest romantic SL was between Peter, Simone, and Alex and that kinda fell flat and not just cuz 2 out of the 3 of them died. Mostly because there was random moments of jealousy.
A good portion of the triangle was kinda mutual, and I liked it. Both Alex and Peter were vying for the same girl’s attention but neither were making it a competition and both were willing to work together for more important things. But then Alex saw the Peter would inadvertently blow up NY and then they started making it about the triangle. The only real take away was that they weren’t treating her like a prize to be won, but they were getting close.
Anyways, the she’s strong suit was always in family and friendship. My favorite relationship in the show was Hiro and Ando and actually made me cry a bit with the future Hiro stuff because his drive to fix the past was driven by getting his best friend back. And my second favorite relationship is Noah and Claire because it’s genuinely heartwarming seeing the lengths he’s go for his daughter. Honestly Claire is the only reason I ever route for him and I love how purposefully that is. And then there’s Nathan and Peter, after coming from TVD it’s really nice to see a genuine brother relation from a dynamic where there’s a lot of animosity, but in the end they truly do love each other and Charles was right, love would win in the end just Nathan’s love for Peter. It was a sweet circle to come around to.
